After seeing a robin (I thought they only ate worms??) eating some Serviceberries, one of the chicks decided to climb up and get some for herself. Much to the delight of the rest of the chickens who gobbled up the now low hanging and fallen fruit!
Just the other day we saw a couple of what appear to be young snakes on the stones around the pond and my grandson said to me 'can the snakes swim?'. Today one of them decided to demonstrate for me.
Several years back I heard about a collar for a rooster to keep them from crowing. Apparently, their 'crowing mechenism' is like a bag pipe, it has to enflate in order to crow. By installing the collar raound their neck they can't inflate, and ca't crow. The previous iteration worked well and we'd get a couple very quiet crows now and then, this one works even better.
I started with dooublesided velcrow, which wasn't a thing in 2" size last time I made one, and it is much more flexible than the old setup where my wife sewed two pieces back to back. At this point all we hear out of him is the occasional very quiet 'cock' with out a 'a-dodle-do', ror just a quiet kind of grunt as captured here.
