"Cosmosapiens" Book Review
So, recently I've been digging a lot on the science stuff. Since my Interview with Perry Marshall, I've discovered a lot of new and exciting stuff about science.
This is why I decided to read Cosmosapiens and I was delighted by it. probably the best book of the year.
Here is the book description extracted from Amazon:
"Specialist scientific fields are developing at incredibly swift speeds, but what can they really tell us about how the universe began and how we humans evolved to play such a dominant role on Earth?
John Hands's extraordinarily ambitious quest is to bring together this scientific knowledge and evaluate without bias or preconception all the theories and evidence about the origin and evolution of matter, life, consciousness, and humankind.
This astonishing book provides the most comprehensive account yet of current ideas such as cosmic inflation, dark energy, the selfish gene, and neurogenetic determinism. In the clearest possible prose it differentiates the firmly established from the speculative and examines the claims of various fields such as string theory to approach a unified theory of everything. In doing so it challenges the orthodox consensus in those branches of cosmology, biology, and neuroscience that have ossified into dogma.
Its striking analysis reveals underlying patterns of cooperation, complexification, and convergence that lead to the unique emergence in humans of a self-reflective consciousness that enables us to determine our future evolution.
This groundbreaking book is destined to become a classic of scientific thinking."

Open Source: Good Option For Developers?
Open Source software has become widely diffused among software developers.
"Open source software is software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify, and enhance.
"Source code" is the part of software that most computer users don't ever see; it's the code computer programmers can manipulate to change how a piece of software—a "program" or "application"—works. Programmers who have access to a computer program's source code can improve that program by adding features to it or fixing parts that don't always work correctly."
(Source: https://opensource.com/resources/what-open-source)
So, although the idea is quite good, is it a viable option for software developers, economically saying?
Is it possible to make a living and a great career using open source software?

How To Be An Optimistic Person?
A lot of people ask me "John, how can you be so optimistic and see life through so good lens?"
Well, I must say I wasn't always like that. Back in the days I was a very pessimistic person. I always ended up looking at some life events in a pretty damn bad way.
That's when I realized that, in life, what happens is that there are events that are neutral and we choose to give the interpretation to them, whether it is good or bad.
So... How can you be more optimistic? How do you develop an optimistic view of the world? Watch this video and find out!

"Triggers - Creating Behaviors That Lasts" Book Review
Recently, I did an interview with my amazing friend Brandon Carter and we were talking about books. One of the books he recommended me was "Triggers".
I've just finished Triggers and I decided to make a review about it.
Here is the Amazon description extracted from Amazon:
"In his powerful new book, bestselling author and world-renowned executive coach Marshall Goldsmith examines the environmental and psychological triggers that can derail us at work and in life.
Do you ever find that you are not the patient, compassionate problem solver you believe yourself to be? Are you surprised at how irritated or flustered the normally unflappable you becomes in the presence of a specific colleague at work? Have you ever felt your temper accelerate from zero to sixty when another driver cuts you off in traffic?
As Marshall Goldsmith points out, our reactions don't occur in a vacuum. They are usually the result of unappreciated triggers in our environment-the people and situations that lure us into behaving in a manner diametrically opposed to the colleague, partner, parent, or friend we imagine ourselves to be. These triggers are constant and relentless and omnipresent. The smell of bacon wafts up from the kitchen, and we forget our doctor's advice on lowering our cholesterol. Our phone chirps, and we glance instinctively at the glaring screen instead of looking into the eyes of the person we are with. So often the environment seems to be outside our control. Even if that is true, as Goldsmith points out, we have a choice in how we respond.
In Triggers, his most powerful and insightful book yet, Goldsmith shows how we can overcome the trigger points in our lives, and enact meaningful and lasting change.
Change, no matter how urgent and clear the need, is hard. Knowing what to do does not ensure that we will actually do it. We are superior planners, says Goldsmith, but become inferior doers as our environment exerts its influence through the course of our day. We forget our intentions. We become tired, even depleted, and allow our discipline to drain down like water in a leaky bucket. In Triggers, Goldsmith offers a simple "magic bullet" solution in the form of daily self-monitoring, hinging around what he calls "active" questions. These are questions that measure our effort, not our results. There's a difference between achieving and trying; we can't always achieve a desired result, but anyone can try. In the course of Triggers, Goldsmith details the six "engaging questions" that can help us take responsibility for our efforts to improve and help us recognize when we fall short.
Filled with revealing and illuminating stories from his work with some of the most successful chief executives and power brokers in the business world, Goldsmith offers a personal playbook on how to achieve change in our lives, make it stick, and become the person we want to be."
So, does trigger get what it was aiming for?
