I wasn't sure show who I was rooting for here, but I thought it was interesting. The prey used the obstacles in the environment against the stronger predator. I took this a few months ago in a parking lot. Take it for whatever it is worth.
Not too much to report in my blog on this one. I make a few comments about the election, but really it was about my frustration with the media during the past year: http://tinyurl.com/o69f8ch
The is the end of the Beek's Place hike I started in the last video. Maybe not as dramatic as the title suggests, but something I wanted to see up close. For more explanation: http://tinyurl.com/27j6va9

Bodie Trilogy #2: Real History and Reel History combine in this video. This is a revised version of the video I did a few years back on the ghost town of Bodie.

While not a complete "throwaway" video since there are some interesting things to it, I did not take this one too seriously. Take it for what it is worth on this April 1st:

Happy Halloween! I am killing a few birds with one stone in this video:
1)I am letting this video represent the 100th public video of the channel.
2)This is the first video in this channel with my most recent camcorder. I still have older footage from the older camcorder I will use, but as time goes on you will seem more from this better camcorder.
3)My whale watching channel is a side-project that is largely seasonal. I don't expect many of you to be into that since there is so many marine animal videos online and on television. It is a different type of challenge to video out in the ocean and something I enjoy doing to relax. If you are curious then check out these two videos from my TheWaterRises channel:
Blue Whale Breaching Competition:

The Day of the Fin Whale:

4)The movie location in this video is well known. Search Youtube and you will see lots of tributes to the movie location. However, just about everything I have seen does not get something right about how they did the ending. It is too complicated to post here so please check out my blog on this where I post pictures to show what was done:

Just another quick "throwaway" video of a drive by this ranch out in middle of nowhere in Nevada. I put a limit on the audio so no need to turn up your sound...nothing is said or anything of importance with that. Just look at the terrain, imagine driving for about an hour on a dirt road with no one around, and then this ranch comes up. This is a "prelude" to a bunch of videos coming out in December. In other words, my "Ghosts of the Past" series is not over just quite yet.
My blog just repeats what is shown below, but if you have something you want to say it can be found here:

Taken from https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=191201:
"The history of the Nine Mile Ranch has a long and interesting past, beginning with the Paiute Indians who inhabited this area long before John C. Fremont’s expedition into Nevada in 1843-1844. According to Fremont’s journal he camped in this area along a little creek now known as 'Rough Creek' in January 1844 on his way to California. Fremont’s camp was in the approximate location of the Nine Mile Ranch today.
With the discovery of gold in Aurora in 1860, this area was destined to become a main route from Carson City to the booming mining camps of the Esmerelda Mining District, of which Aurora and later Bodie were featured destinations. Along this route stage stops were established for the convenience of travelers.
Over the years, the Nine Mile has been known as Cobb’s Rancho, Nine Mile House, Nine Mile Station, Green’s Station, etc., but Nine Mile Ranch is what shows on most modern maps.
Notable people in history are known to have visited the area, including John C. Fremont, Kit Carson, Mark Twain, Governor James Nye, and J. Ross Browne, to name a few."

This was a rather simple hike to historic Roller Pass which is one of the three main passes migrants came during the late 1840's to cross the Sierra Nevada. I show some of Donner Pass at the beginning, but the main point is to show Roller Pass.
