Summary Of The Video:
There is a vulnerability that has been talked about for some time and I think you guys should be aware of it. It's a vulnerability in the NTFS file system that exists from Windows 10 1803 and up (even older OS'es like Windows XP according to new information). Although there's no guarantee if it will actually corrupt your data on the HDD or not, as I have tested it several times on different versions of Windows affected by it. But still, I didn't face a single case where it actually corrupted my data on HDD even after skipping CHKDSK.
While rumors still say that there is a possibility, it could. I felt like letting you guys know about it. This vulnerability can be exploited in a lot of different ways which includes remote code execution, URL files contained in a zip folder that has its icon location set to the location that triggers it, the code embedded in an HTML file, etc.
What's more concerning is that it doesn't need any admin rights to do so and in some cases, it does not even require user interaction. If you want to protect yourself then just make sure you don't fall victim to any kind of social engineering. Just try to be a bit smart while browsing the internet. Few articles you can read to learn more about it:
