The Sad Side Of Urban Exploration: Gross Finds And A Naked Guy
Urban Exploration is not as pretty as many channels today make it out to be this is just one of the raw rough and real Explores we have done this year that many channels don't or won't do since it is not pretty and clean and is sometimes downright gross, this is the sad side of Urban Exploring.
This old factory gave us a surprise from the beginning when I walked in on a rather robust naked man laying on the floor(YouTube will not let us show that of course) to the obvious areas of homeless habitation upstairs(one room may have been his) and even someone in a bathroom shower stall that we tried to talk to but decided to give them space. Thankfully the naked guy had put his clothes back on by the time we were done Exploring and then proceeded to ask us for a ride to another city, which we refused but we did give him $5 for some food. The smell of the multiple makeshift hobo toilets and rotting food mixed in the air with strong body odor even made its way past my filtered Inogen G3 oxygen concentrator and is one of those smells you never forget.
We have spent much of this year Exploring off the beaten path because we want to see the gritty places few Explorers see and document and share those as well as the big more pretty upscale ones you can see anywhere. This place was truly one for the gritty Dark Side Of Urban Exploration file.

Abandoned Bridges On A Closed Highway In The Middle Of Nowhere
Shawn spotted this small closed off old bridge and highway while we were scouting in the middle of nowhere and of course we couldn't resist checking it out and showing it to you all. The bridge itself seems solid being built almost like an old train bridge but is bent up in places(possibly from old car wrecks) and has not been used by cars in quite sometime. The unused old highway is narrow as heck and there is only one very strange looking home along and a few other small old unused bridges on it which were blocked off too but we were able to drive around most of the fences and barricades to see them. Road finds like this are super fun and also a huge part of good urban exploring and in this case rural exploring.

decaying-forgotten-farmhouse-explored
I thought I lost the Explore of this old on the edge of collapse farmhouse but it turned up misplaced in the wrong file after missing for 9 months. This old farmhouse was another accidental road trip find and I really enjoyed seeing this old house since it obviously wont be there much longer. The front porch has totally collapsed, the roof has huge gaping holes in it, there are holes in the floors and ceiling, yet there were still signs of it's long ago better days remaining. The architecture itself was a great throwback to over a hundred years ago and some of the original paint and wallpaper remained to show fashions of the time. Due to the instability of the house there were many areas I could not get to but I'm glad I was able to preserve any of it.

My wife found this forgotten old house along the highway on our recent business trip. You could almost hear the banjo music as we hiked through the insanely wood tick infested woods to this house which we will always remember as Wood Tick House due to the over 40 wood ticks(not kidding!) we had to pick from our clothes, hands, and ankles! My wife still gets the heebie jeebies thinking about this place but it was a great little find with some cool retro finds that date its abandonement at around the early 1980s. From the bigwheel toy, old air popcorn popper, old TV, and the crazy old IBM computer this was a great little stop to break up the 9 hours of driving. This is Karen's first abandoned find and her first on camera moment and after the ticks I'm not sure there will be more.

While scouting we ran across this hella cool old Ramada Plaza Inn that had been partially demolished but much of it was still intact including the beautiful 1980s' looking pool and party dome area. Parts of this huge old Ramada Inn were already gone while others remained almost eerily untouched waiting for the wrecking ball to get to them. By far the best part of this old Ramada Hotel was the pool area that really made us nostalgic for hotels of this type which are now becoming more and more rare while all new hotels all look like the same boring econobox design and nothing like these fun and very unique hotels that many of us remember from family vacations and even prom/graduation parties.
This place was so amazing to us that even though Shawn had badly hurt his leg earlier in the day he limped through this old beauty and even used his camera and said the words "this is cool" which surprised even me. This old Ramada totally shows why we are out there hunting down places like this, we want to preserve them and the look and memories we all share for decades to come and we are so happy to be able to share them with you and keep your memories alive as well as ours.

This last Saturday March 7th at 1:27pm we lost Cocoa the heart and soul of our home for the last 7 years, he truly was both our best friend and to us our child in many ways. They say you don't know what you have until you lose it but that's not true in this case, we both knew(as long time dog owners and lovers) how amazing he was and told him often. Before him neither of us had seen or heard of a Chesapeake Bay Retriever yet now when we think of dogs, we hope and fear at once we will never find another anyone like him even if we get another of his breed. We knew we would be devastated by his loss one day but even we did now know it was going to be this bad as it was mostly unexpected and very very sudden and I am not in any condition to live stream right now.

Then YouTube made my day worse.
I was logging on to tell you all why there would be no stream tonight when I found out I had a copyright strike on my channel from a review from months ago and the strike is over an AD that was in his video!! If ads can control where your video is played or shared then that means they own our videos which is NOT what the YouTube rules say. As annoyed as I am with monday.com I'm hoping it is a mistake on their part but my real anger at an already bad time for me is directed heavily at YouTube for even letting this sheer idiocy go ahead! Striking a channel for playing an AD!!!!!! Are you f*cking kidding me!!! As it stands right now I cannot stream at all for 3 months unless the strike is removed, honestly I'm not sure YouTube is worth all the bullsh!t anymore. During our vacation last year in Colorado we came across this cool old church standing by the road and as we filmed it the person that lived next to it drove up and gave us some history on it including a lightning strike on the cross. This was a small but really cool little roadside find and I only wish we were able to see the interior. Sorry for the huffing and puffing but at 8000 feet my 32% lungs were having a rough time.
