There is no better way to prepare for an emergency than with a home freeze dryer. Freeze-dried food is perfect for emergency food supplies, bug out bags, 72-hour kits, and other survival packs. With a home freeze dryer, you will be prepared for any kind of emergency.
NATURAL DISASTERS
Most people will be affected by some type of serious disaster in their lifetime. Home freeze drying puts you in control of your family’s survival, no matter the circumstances.
MAN-MADE DISASTERS
Man-made disasters such as war, explosions, chemical spills, and terrorism, cause human suffering, loss of life, and food shortages. Freeze drying gives you peace of mind in case any of these worst-case scenarios occur.
FINANCIAL DISTRESS
A home freeze dryer allows you to easily preserve large amounts of food and create a high quality emergency food supply, so you can take care of yourself and loved ones in case of job loss or financial downturns.
SAVE MONEY
Buying freeze-dried food from a store is expensive. The food is often full of salt and other preservatives and the limited choice means you buy meals you may not even like eating. Freeze drying your own meals and produce is a great way to save money when building your emergency food supply.

I originally wanted to try out these bees wax fire starters for use in my camping and hiking survival kit. However, when I realized that they could also be used to start barbecue charcoal instead of spraying disgusting chemicals, I decided to test them out. I must admit that initially I thought these would be very marginal for getting charcoal going, but I was wrong and surprised at how well they worked. These are awesome, and will now be my go to way of starting my BBQ.
I used way more than I needed to get my charcoal going. I broke off a little more than one of the sections and it burned for close to 30 minutes from what I can tell. It really got the charcoal going good. I am going to try it with a smaller piece next time.
Also, at the time I made this video, I thought the company was called, "Wildwood", but later I realized they are "Wildwood Grilling". I got mine from a local supermarket, but I also found them on Amazon, here: https://www.amazon.com/Wildwood-Grilling-Fire-Starters-Sustainably/dp/B0BRYLW9P2
They are made out of bees wax and some kind of wood shavings. They are supposed to work even when they are wet. I am going to put that claim to a serious test, and if they work when they are wet, then this will definitely be a part of my survival gear going forward. I first saw these work in the snow on a mountain in Montana, and they were impressive, but if my life might depend on them, then I want to make sure they are reliable.

While being physically fit and strong can certainly enhance your hiking experience, it is not a strict requirement to hike in the rain. Hiking in the rain can be a rewarding and enjoyable activity, but it does come with some additional challenges compared to fair weather hiking. Here are some important factors to consider when hiking in the rain:
Stamina and Endurance: Hiking in wet and potentially muddy conditions can be more physically demanding than hiking in dry weather. The terrain may be slippery, and you might need to exert more energy to maintain balance and stability. Having good stamina and endurance can help you handle these challenges more effectively.
Proper Gear: Wearing appropriate clothing and footwear is crucial when hiking in the rain. Waterproof or water-resistant hiking boots, a rain jacket, and rain pants can help keep you dry and comfortable during the hike. Carrying a backpack with essential gear, such as snacks, water, and a first aid kit, is also important for safety.
Mental Preparedness: Hiking in the rain can be mentally challenging, especially if it's a prolonged downpour. Staying positive, focusing on the beauty of the surroundings, and having a sense of adventure can make the experience more enjoyable.
Trail Conditions: Rain can make trails muddy and slippery, potentially increasing the risk of slips and falls. Being cautious and using trekking poles for added stability can help mitigate these risks.
Know Your Limits: While hiking in the rain can be a fantastic experience, it's essential to know your own abilities and limitations. If the rain is accompanied by thunderstorms or severe weather warnings, it's best to postpone your hike for safety reasons.
Environmental Impact: Hiking in the rain can lead to erosion and trail damage, particularly on poorly maintained or sensitive trails. Being aware of Leave No Trace principles and sticking to designated paths can help minimize your impact on the environment.
Ultimately, whether you are strong or not, hiking in the rain requires preparation, appropriate gear, and a positive attitude. If you're new to hiking or uncertain about your abilities, it's a good idea to start with shorter, easier trails in wet conditions and gradually build up to more challenging hikes as you gain experience and confidence.
