What is The Best Halloween 2? – Hack The Movies (#176)
What is the best second Halloween movie? Is it Halloween II which takes place on the same night as the first film and has many of the cast and crew from the original return? Could it be Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 which is a sequel to his remake. Perhaps it is Halloween 2018 which has an older Laurie Strode taking on Michael Myers again 40 years later? This is what the Movie Dumpster guys and I will try to decide in this episode!
What is the worst Star Wars movie? That is the subject of today’s debate! Tony, Mike, and The Blue Meanie celebrate the new year by talking about Hulk Hogan’s first big film, No Holds Barred! In this movie review/podcast they will talk about all the ways this infamous film ridiculous. Like how Hulk Hogan plays a character that’s basically himself, the insane TV executive that acts like a mob boss, and the DOOKIE scene.
Rip is the World Wrestling Federation champion who is faithful to his fans and the network he wrestles for. Brell, the new head of the World Television Network, wants Rip to wrestle for his network. Alien Resurrection: The saga continues 200 years after Ripley sacrificed herself for the sake of humanity. Her erstwhile employers long gone, this time it is the military that resurrects the one-woman killing machine through genetic cloning to extract the alien from within her, but during the process her DNA is fused with the queen and then the aliens escape. Tony and Justin review Darkman. In this Podcast / Movie Review they will talk about the things that make this movie Darkman awesome. From Sam Raimi’s directing, Danny Elfman’s score, and the over the top action scenes.
Peyton Westlake is a scientist who has discovered a way to produce synthetic skin. This could revolutionize skin grafting, except for one minor glitch; the synthetic skin degrades after 100 minutes of exposure to light. When gangsters attack Peyton, he is horrifically burnt, and assumed dead. In his quest for revenge, Peyton, aka the Darkman, is able to take on the appearance of anyone (using the synthetic skin,) but he only has 100 minutes per disguise.
Director’s cuts, Extended Cuts, or Special editions are sometime the best way to view a movie. It allows you to see the story they way they wanted it told before they compromised. Most times they’re great. In the case of E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial 20th anniversary edition an alternate cut can completely damage and ruin a movie. We talk about this famous disaster then bring up other director’s or extended cuts that we think result in inferior films.
Happy 40th Anniversary to E.T. by the way!

I planned on doing a review of Halloween H20's workprint but found the television version of the film way more interesting. It takes one of the better sequels in the franchise (a movie that could be considered the original Halloween Ends) and completely sanitizes it. Trimming violence is one thing but characters straight up disappear instead of being killed by Michael. On the plus side there are some interesting deleted scenes put back in.
Tony, Justin, and Kieran reunite to talk about the last of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. In this movie review/podcast they will discuss the things that make Spider-Man 3 disappointing. Like the Harry storyline being sandwiched in with 2 other villains, How Sandman disappears for large chunks of time, and how they botched the black suit/Venom storyline.
Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) and M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) seem to finally be on the right track in their complicated relationship, but trouble looms for the superhero and his lover. Peter’s Spider-Man suit turns black and takes control of him, not only giving Peter enhanced power but also bringing out the dark side of his personality. Peter must overcome the suit’s influence as two supervillains, Sandman and Venom, rise up to destroy him and all those he holds dear.

We gave patrons the chance to vote on what Holiday movie we would review and they picked the holiday classic National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. In this movie review/podcast we will talk about all the classic moments in the 3rd entry of the Vacation franchise. Like Clark’s super fast sled, The ongoing struggle to get the Christmas lights to work, and literally anything Cousin Eddie says or does.
As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark’s employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs.
