#17 - Hewlett Packard 33120A function generator repair part 2
Step two in repairing this function generator. It turned out that another problem was missed somehow. Apparently a 2N5583 transistor in the final stage of the output amplifier has failed as well. I am quite surprised that the problem didn't manifest itself during the testing in the previous video.
This speaker worked, but produced a loud hum. The fault was traced to a dead electrolytic capacitor in the power supply.

A trinocular microscope with an articulated arm and a camera was purchased for the lab. I am not sure that the articulated arm was the best choice, the camera is noisy and with some glitches. Perhaps some other accessories will be needed such as 0.35x camera adapter to make the field of view though the camera match the field of view through the eyepieces. Maybe a 0.7x Barlow lens would be handy.

This Tektronix PS2520 triple output power supply was sold on eBay in the "for parts and repair" category with a description of "no display". It turned out it needed a new a fuse, a DAC, and a calibration. The process of investigation and calibration is shown in this video.

This speaker was described as "blown" and offered cheap. The problem was traced to a shorted MOSFET on the primary side of the switch-mode power supply and one dead electrolytic capacitor on the secondary side.

These speakers suffered from the same problems as similar Rokit 6 speakers in video #105: conductive and corrosive glue and failing electrolytic capacitors. The glue was removed, all electrolytic caps were replaced. The speakers are back to life.

A faulty HiTech RLI-9600 9V 600mAh lithium-ion battery was taken apart. The fault was identified and fixed. A full charge and discharge test was done. Desoldering and soldering of a tiny 8-TSSOP package was demonstrated.

This is a professional wireless system by Shure with rack-mount ULXP4 receiver and ULX1 body-pack transmitter. The receiver did not show an active channel and battery status of the transmitter. A look at the RF spectrum showed that the so-called "tone key" signal was not transmitted. The problem was traced to a cracked soldering joint on one of the pins of a board-to-board connector.

This piano did not power up. The problem was narrowed down to its external power supply. The supply was cracked open, examined, discussed and repaired. It turned out that a primary winding of the transformer was broken off. Perhaps the supply was dropped.
As mentioned in the video, here is Zoom R16 mixing board with that died together with its power supply that was killed seemingly by a surge:
