Here is how to make a low cost solar powered underwater green fishing light from a 3 liter plastic bottle and a LUCI solar light I got on Amazon for $15. You will need : 1. one 3 liter green plastic bottle 2. an X-Acto or razor blade or scissors 3. a marker 4. elastic or rubber bands 5. some weight to sink the light- I used 2 small bags full of pennies, about 9 ounces or 260 grams. Some string to attach to the light and to secure the weight to the bottom. Green light travels farther underwater than white light, but not as far as blue light. Many people prefer green light to help them catch fish at night, but truthfully, it depends on the fish in your area. Any light that attracts small bait fish will attract larger fish. I like the LUCI light a lot. It is waterproof as it is inflatable. I don't know how far down under water it will go. I put it into the canal immediately after making mine and the shoreline is very shallow and full of weeds so it did not go very deep, only a couple of feet. The light works a lot better over a sandy bottom in clear water. The LUCI light has a flasher and a high and low switch setting. It has straps on the bottom and top to attach a line to it. Because it is waterproof it will not get damaged from salt spray which makes it an ideal light for boating. It should make a very handy cabin light or even a man overboard light, and should be excellent for camping or an emergency home or car light. I will be using the light at some decent fishing spots and give you an update in the future. This week is a short ramble about a funny pickup truck I saw on one of my walks. I took some video but it was on the wrong setting and only shot a few seconds. This is a Dodge truck someone has semi-attached another truck bed to the top. I doubt the owner is using it as a camper, but I thought it was an idea for a wonderful improvisation. I could clearly see how a person could add a Jon boat to the top and be as happy as a pig in mud. I don't want to have to pay your gas bill with al that windage but it made me smile and I hope it did you too. thanks for watching.
