This piano roll trick works equally well in Bitwig or Ableton Live. Its much easier to make music when every note on the pianoroll is a scale tone.

The first in a series about Tracktion Waveform for beginners. We’ll start with the basics, using only the built-in plugins of Waveform Free in this video to get you up and running as quickly and simply as possible (probably the best free DAW on the market). There are a few slightly more advanced features in this video too that are simple to use and well worth exploring.

If you're curious about Windows 11 for music production compared with Linux, I might save you several installation reboots, and a whole lot of down time while you wait! It's fine, it works, it looks much better than Windows 10... Of course it does, it looks more like Linux! What about under the hood though? That's where it really matters. Here are some of my thoughts about it.
1. I still encountered random bugs in Windows, just like in Linux, but I wouldn't have a clue how to fix them in Windows.
2. I miss the terminal. I know that powershell exists but I'm lost in it. I doubt you'd be permitted to do much in it anyway.
3. Some of the software I missed since moving from my 2012 Macbook Pro (MacOS) to Linux turns out to be not very good when using a 4k monitor. Some of the NI Komplete stuff looks dated and tiny, so it's barely worth thinking about.
4. I miss Jack Audio Connection Kit and the power to route audio wherever I want in my system by simply dragging a few patch cables in Catia.
5. I have the same security and privacy concerns that I had in Windows 10.
So, do you think I'll be switching from Linux Manjaro to Windows 11 full-time?

Here’s some more diagonal arpeggios in the style of Django Reinhardt. Playing diagonally along the neck extends your arpeggios by a couple of notes, and it gives you a fluid and musical way to move up or down the neck to new positions for the next part of your solo.
Part 2 explores Am6, Dm6 and E7 arpeggios. These happen to be the main 3 chords in “Minor Swing” so you’ll have a tune to play with these arpeggios on straight away. There’s an extra run here for the Am chord, adding the 9th into the mix.
Stay tuned for Part 3 and we’ll look at some alternative arpeggios that you can play on the E7 in Minor Swing (or any blues in A or Am).

Every sound on this track was made with Miniraze. The kick, the snare, the organs, the sound effects, the marimba, all of it! Modulators in Tracktion Waveform were used in conjunction with it, along with some DAW essentials plugins and a couple of Dragonfly reverbs in Linux.
This is a great synth. While on the one hand it is kind of the baby brother of Waverazor, it takes us on quite a different journey in practice. I would definitely use it again and again, just like I have done with Waverazor. There are sounds to be found in these synths that just can't be found anywhere else and I love that about them. Whether you're looking for a retro 80s synth tone, a jazzy organ tone, some crazy spaced out sound effects or a simple bass sound, Miniraze has got you covered.
Whether you enjoy custom sound design, creating vast shifting soundscapes, or surfing through a varied range of awesome presets, this synth is well worth a try. Download and demo it for a trial period of a week and see what you think yourself: https://mok.com/miniraze.php
I really enjoyed the challenge of creating an entire track with just one synth, and I was very impressed by the sheer range of sounds on offer from Miniraze. You can even route audio through it, but that's a feature that I didn't get to try before my trial period ended. That's a whole other video for another day, once I get my hands on the licence after Christmas. I can't wait to see what crazy sounds we can make with audio running through it!

Tracktion F.’em Cinematic Vistas pack has this cool patch that reminds me of Karlheinz Stockhausen with a single key-press. That’s cool! ?
