How To Land And Return From Laythe In Kerbal Space Program
Laythe is really easy to get to, but it's mostly covered with water to landing and returning can be quite difficult, so I built a lander and return vehicle specifically designed to land on water and liftoff again.
For some rockets and spacecraft the crew escape system was via an ejection seat, sometimes custom built for the task, sometimes adapted from an existing seat designed for a high performance plane.
Here's a great NASA paper on the Gemini ejection seat:

Second Stage engine fails at ignition, and the engineering camera is also lost suggesting something violent enough to cause damage beyond the combustion chamber.

MIssion 11 of 13, Earth is threatened by the colonial superweapon, a desperate attack on the hostile fleet is attempted as a diversion to stall the attack.... or something like that. Point is, we're back at Earth and blowing up hundreds of enemy ships.

By sheer coincidence a number of long incubating space projects have launched in July - Unity, New Shepard, Nauka and Starliner's second demo mission expected to round out the month. It's great to see all these fly, but I have one favourite....
One thing that didn't show any sign of slowing down was SpaceX's booster test in Boca Chica, clearly the experience of failures with Starship testing has at least solidified their testing, welding and ground procedures.

It turns out that many rocket fuels are basic chemicals that are used in everyday life, which means you can find them in regular stores. But you shouldn't be under any illusion that these would work or be a good idea for a rocket.
A better way to build rockets is to buy pre-made solid rocket motors, and then get certified by experts for bigger and bigger rocket motors https://www.nar.org/
Explosions and Fire going all the way concentrating peroxide.

A rocket finds itself without sufficient fuel to return to the planet Kerbin, all hope is lost until elite kosmonaut Jeb Kerman guides the crew through a last ditch attempt to return them home safely.
(obviously, this technique won't work in every case, don't blame me when it doesn't work for you :)

I really want to send a mission to duna, but when I start to thing realisticly about accommodating crew for 200+ days I realise I need more than a single capsule to house them.

A couple of months ago I asked for Rocket Lab flags and logos in Kerbal Space Program, and Rocket Lab agreed! So I sat down with CEO and long time rocket builder Peter Beck to talk about what Rocket Lab is doing and to try to fly Kerbal versions of the Electron and Photon.
You can of course get Kerbal Space Program on PC/Mac/Linux/Playstation/XBox

And you can find out more about Rocket Lab and the Electron launch vehicle at their website:
