1. Unpack Caavo and verify that you have everything you should have 2. Unpack remote and start charging it (you will thank yourself later for this) 3. Place Caavo base (minus lid) where you want it to be 4. Connect to your network 5. Connect HDMI cable from Out port to a HDMI port on the TV 6. Connect power to Caavo 7. Turn on TV and select the HDMI port the Caavo is attached to 8. Follow the on screen instructions to pair the Caavo remote to the Caavo base unit 9. You will a screen that says the remote is paired 10. The next screen will have you adjust the resolution of the Caavo to match the TV a. Hint: use the up/own arrow as shown on the screen around the OK button and not the up and down arrows on the remote 11. Once you can see all the arrows, Press the OK button to continue 12. Caavo will now check for updates, download and apply them a. This process can take about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection b. Once the Updates have been applied, you will be asked to position the arrows on the screen to where you can see them 13. Select whether the AV devices are in a closed or open cabinet 14. Press OK to continue 15. Caavo will next check for the version of TV that you have 16. Click on Yes if it has discovered the right manufacturer 17. Select where the sound needs to go (TV or AV receiver) and click on OK to continue 18. At this point, I connected just the ROKU streaming receiver 19. Click on Ok to continue 20. Once it has discovered the devices, Click on ok to test control of the devices 21. To test the remote funtionality, read the instructions on the screen and press the mike button to continue 22. The next screen walks you through testing the volume function on the TV 23. If the remote works, press the mike button 24. You will be walked through a series of screen testing the Caavo's ability to control your TV 25. You will next walk through a test to check for access to your streaming Device (in my case Roku for this first part) 26. Once you have completed that test, enter the zip code to set your time zone 27. You will now create your Caavo acount 28. Use the information on the TV screen to complete the process 29. Select the apps from the webpage that you are using on your media streaming device 30. Click on Next 31. You will now walk through each of the selected services to enter your login credentials 32. Once your streaming media receiver has been setup, you will be given the option to link your Amazon Ech device (if you have one) 33. The instructions will appear on screen for linking alexa to Caavo 34. I had to use the alexa.amazon.com portal to enable the skill but was able to use voice control to give it the required pin 35. 1. After the Wifi light has gone solid, I would suggest cycling the device through on and off several times. You should hear a relay click each time the Sonoff Basic (or whatever Sonoff device you have just configured) between Off and On 2. Turn off the vibration a. One thing that I found a little annoying (at least on the iPhone app) was the vibration every time the Sonoff was changed from off to on or on to off. i. To turn off the vibration, tap on the device name (not the on or off button to the left of the device name ii. Tap on the circle with 3 dots in it in the upper right hand corner to the right of the device name iii. Tap on Setting iv. Tap on the Vibration button to change it from on to off 3. Check that the latest firmware is installed a. In my case the device came installed with version 1.5.5, the eWeLink app advised that 1.6.0 was available b. Tap on the cloud symbol with the down arrow to start the update process c. Tap on OK when the firmware update window appears d. You should notice a change to the Wifi light. In my case it went to a triple flash for a few seconds. e. After it had finished updated, the Wifi light went solid and the eWeLink app quickly updated to show v1.6.0 had been installed. 4. Document the Sonoff Device that you just installed a. Using a label maker or a magic marker with a fine point, label the device with a unique name or the name that the eWeLink apps knows it by b. Go into the web page for the router that you are using and look for the page that shows the mac addresses for all devices that are connected to the router c. You should be able to see what mac address connected to the router on what date d. If that isn't an option for your particular router, disconnect the Sonoff device you just setup and let it stay offline for a few minutes e. You should see a mac address either get added to the list or change state from offline to online when the device has power connected to it again 5. Surge Protector a.
