Friedrich Nietzsche's books were partly edited by his sister to fit her Nazi ideals. Were the originals recovered? Which versions are available today? Firstly, not all of Nietzsche’s books were edited by Lama. Instead, only the ones that were published after Nietzsche’s breakdown on January 3rd, 1889, when he was left in no state to voice his opinions on things, were edited by her. All the books published before that were never touched by her, so we can rely on them to be genuine. Secondly, the originals were recovered and can be easily acquired. Far as I know, no modern edition of anything, other than The Will to Power (which doesn’t really count as one of Nietzsche’s books, as it was composed of his unpublished notes, passages that he already published in previous works and Lama’s own inventions), contains Llama’s additions. But, just to be certain, there is the critical edition of Nietzsche’s collected works by Colli and Montinari, which remains the standard for Nietzsche studies. In that collection you will find Nietzsche’s works restored to their original version, along with world class philological commentary where needed – including any relevant remarks on different versions of texts. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a prime example of the distortion and falsification of history in general. Whether it's because of personal bias and for personal enrichment or because of political and military hegemony since history is written by the victors, almost anything you read is either distorted or outright propaganda.
