After taking the quiz for a radio expansion on the PokéGear at the Radio Tower, go to the gym of Goldenrod City and you’ll take on Whitney after navigating a maze. Whitney uses Normal type Pokémon. Clefairy will use Metronome to use a random move and Mimic to learn the target’s most recently used move. Miltank will be the hard part as it will use Rollout to repeat for 5 turns with the move growing in power every turn. If Miltank is low on HP, it will use Milk Drink to regenerate. After the battle, Whitney will become devastated, and you’ll walk away empty handed for the time being. After a Lass speaks to you, go back to talk to Whitney and she will give you the Plain Badge along with a TM45 (Attract). After beating the Elite Four, you’ll end up home at Littleroot Town and watch TV about the news about a legendary Pokémon roaming all over Hoenn. If you choose blue, Latios will roam the routes of Hoenn. It will be on Level 40 but will flee on the first turn. If you choose red while watching the news bulletin, Latios will be at the Southern Island and you need an Eon Ticket to get there that can be obtained via Nintendo Event. If you have the Eon Ticket, go to the shipyard in Lillycove City and the attendant will examine the ticket you have so you can be eligible to go to the Southern Island. At the Southern Island, save your game in front of the mysterious ball. Interact with the mysterious ball and Latias will arrive. Latios will be on Level 50. Its signature move is Luster Purge, a move that will lower the target’s Special Defense stat 50% of the time when the move hits. Use Ultra Balls and status problems for a better capture result. Once you capture Latios at the Southern Island, you’ll notice that it is holding a special item called Soul Dew.
