Edgar Degas was a French artist who lived from 1834 to 1917. He is best known for his work in the Impressionist movement, but he chose to call himself a "realist" or "independent." Degas was born in Paris to a rich family. He first went to school to study law. But he changed his mind and went to the École des Beaux-Arts to learn how to become an artist.

Degas was very interested in the world of dancing, and he often painted dancers. He took pictures of their movement, ease, and behind-the-scenes moments in a unique way that paid close attention to every detail. Even though he used some of the same methods as the Impressionists, Degas had his own style that was made up of his careful attention to detail. Degas was different from other artists of his time because he used new ways to put things together in his works and was able to capture light and texture.

In addition to his works about dance, Degas also painted about horse racing, opera, and everyday life in Paris. He did work in many different ways, like painting, sculpting, drawing, and making prints. Degas' works were very new and different, and they often showed movement and fleeting moments. He made many statues of dancers, horses, and women in their underwear. Today, his paintings and statues are admired for their technical skill, artistic innovation, and unique point of view.

He died in Paris on September 27, 1917, when he was 83 years old. Degas's influence lives on, and his work is still shown in museums and galleries around the world. His contributions to the Impressionist movement and his ability to paint people in motion are still important and powerful. He is known as a master of the human figure and one of the most important artists of the 19th century. His love for showing what goes on behind the scenes and capturing dancers' grace and athleticism is still unmatched. Edgar Degas made ballet's beauty and grace last forever through his art. This made him a famous figure in the art world.
