New Nevada Bill Allows Home Invaders to Sue You if You Shoot Them
A man’s home is his castle, or so the saying goes. And people should be able to protect their homes - including our most precious asset, our families - against intruders without fear of a lawsuit.
Some Nevada politicians are trying to change that. They think that you should be financially liable for any injuries they sustain when you defend yourself -- even in your home.
Does that sound convoluted? It is. And, it’s ridiculous. If someone is invading your home, the last thing you should be thinking about is being sued if you use force to defend yourself or your family.
Senate Bill 254 removes the provision in Nevada law protecting people from civil liability when they justifiably use potentially deadly force against a person who is injured or killed while invading their home.
We need YOU to tell them, “I have a right to defend myself against criminals!”
Senators, here’s a thought: Actions have consequences. When a criminal decides to invade someone else’s property, they just might get hurt or killed as a result - and the criminal’s the only one to blame.

Yep, you read that right. Nevada politicians want to allow criminals, shot in the act of robbing a home, to sue whoever shot them.
WTF? Senate Bill HB254 is working its way through the Nevada political machine. If passed, the bill will allow criminals … or their surviving family members … shot in the act of robbing a home to sue the homeowner or resident who shoots them.
Nevada law currently protects people in cases of “justifiable homicide” which is defined as:
the killing of a human being in necessary self-defense, or in defense of an occupied habitation, an occupied motor vehicle or person, against one who manifestly intends or endeavors to commit a crime of violence, or against any person or persons who manifestly intend and endeavor, in a violent, riotous, tumultuous or surreptitious manner, to enter the occupied habitation or occupied motor vehicle, of another for the purpose of assaulting or offering personal violence to any person dwelling or being therein.
That wouldn’t change but, the homeowner could wind up losing everything they have in a civil lawsuit. What do you think about this?

The first sterilization law was passed in 1909. From here, sterilizations occurred at a steady increasing rate until about 1950. Prior to 1921, there were 2,558 sterilizations and this rate continued to increase until around 1950. California differed from many other states, in that, sterilizations did not significantly decrease with the Great Depression (Clayton, p. 43). After 1950, the rate slowed, and only 85 sterilizations occurred after 1960.

A bill that has just passed the California State Senate could effectively make criminals out of many people- just for having sex.
The bill, SB 967, would require “affirmative consent” before college-age couples can have sex. This would essentially outlaw sex that is had “while in the heat of passion”.

Murder and assault
A total of 6 289 murders were reported during those months, which is an increase of 3.4%.

Sexual assault in pet-store bathroom leads to 4-year sentence
28-year-old 'very likely to reoffend again in a violent way,' judge says
An Edmonton man who molested and exposed himself to a five-year-old girl in the bathroom of a west-end pet store washroom was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison.
Adrian Ballantyne, 28, pleaded guilty to sexual interference and breaching probation. A sexual assault charge was withdrawn.
The sentence was longer than the 3 1/2 years recommended jointly by the Crown and defence.
"It's degrading," said Judge Ferne LeReverend. "It's horrifying."
LeReverend said the girl and her mother will likely never get over the attack.

Five years for man who molested a girl in an Edmonton library
A sexual predator who molested a 10-year-old girl in the children's section of the downtown public library and a teen on an LRT platform has been put behind bars.
Calvin Bradley Soosay, 44, was handed a five-year prison term Thursday in Provincial Court after earlier pleading guilty to two counts of sexual contact with a child and failing to comply with a court order.
Judge Steven Bilodeau also ordered that Soosay, who has a history of sex offences, must serve at least half of his sentence before being eligible to apply for parole.

It was 42 years ago that Jim Gaylord lost his job as a teacher for being gay. On Sunday, members of the Tacoma School Board came back with a long overdue apology.
Gaylord was welcomed as a guest of honor at a fundraising event for Oasis Youth Center, a safe haven for gay teenagers in Tacoma. Members of the center said Gaylord inspired them because he embraced being gay in a time when the world was stacked against him.
In 1972, Gaylord worked as a social studies teacher at Wilson High School, until he was fired because of his sexual orientation. Gaylord sued and his case went to the U.S. Supreme Court, but he ultimately lost.
Tacoma School Board President Kurt Miller said the firing was rooted in prejudice, and in no way reflects the values of the district today.
"On behalf of the board, staff, students and families of the Tacoma School District, I offer a sincere apology to Mr. Jim Gaylord," Miller said.

2nd Amendment is a Gun Permit

Most of the people who utter these words are well-intended. They are very passionate about their right to keep and bear arms, but I can't help but wonder if they truly understand where rights come from or what the 2nd amendment means . . .
Perhaps they've never taken the time to think about what these worn out cliches imply: that our right to keep and bear arms is granted to us by the 2nd amendment, that without the 2nd amendment, no such right would exist and that the 2nd amendment is a "universal" prohibition against all gun laws.
These same people likely cheered when a three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois' ban on concealed carry permits and gave lawmakers there a deadline to craft legislation legalizing the concealed carry of firearms. This was said to be a victory for the 2nd amendment, but it was no such thing.
It was yet another blow to federalism intended to further centralize power in Washington DC.

After the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colo., an outcry has emanated from many calling for tougher gun laws. While I agree that this shooting was a true tragedy, a much larger tragedy plays out daily: innocent people killed by drunken drivers. In 2010, drunken drivers killed 13,000 people. According to the CDC there were 10,400 firearm homicides in our country. Reviewing the statistics, we find that the majority of these gun-related deaths were criminal on criminal violence or justified police shootings, not innocent people killed as is the case of a death by a DUI. You and I have a far, far greater chance of being killed by a drunken driver than we do have of being killed by a person like James Holmes, the Aurora shooter. There appears to be very little correlation between "looser" gun laws and gun deaths. Washington, DC has one of the tightest gun laws in the country, and yet the highest rate of violent crime. Vermont, with no gun control laws has a very low rate of violent crime. Statistics show that violent crime is somewhat lower in states which allow concealed carry of weapons. However, DUI related deaths are a much different thing. One third of DUI killers are repeat offenders.

Guilty till proven Innocent
Colorado SB 197, part of the recently passed gun control package in the state, could end up confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens. The bill concerns "preventing persons who have committed domestic violence from possessing firearms," but "committed" and "domestic violence" remain loosely defined.
SB 197 requires a person subjected to a temporary or permanent protection order for alleged domestic violence to relinquish any firearm in or subject to his immediate possession or control within 24 hours. If the order is issued outside of the court, the person may be given 48 hours. In special cases, the person can receive a maximum of 72 hours at the court's discretion.
SB 197 is one of five recent gun control measures passed in Colorado. Compared to the other measures—restriction of magazine capacity to 15 rounds, requiring universal background checks for private gun sales, placing a $10 fee on these background checks, and re-defining deadly weapon—SB 197 has received little attention and its consequences are not well understood.
If a person is taken into custody after being subjected to a protection order, he must relinquish any firearms or ammunition in his immediate possession before being released.

Donald Trump Jr. is starting a new pro-Second Amendment group that will push back on Democrat gun control efforts.
According to a Fox News exclusive on Tuesday, Trump Jr. will serve as the chairman of the new group, dubbed the Second Amendment Task Force
“The Second Amendment is the whole ballgame; it’s the freedom that protects all of our other freedoms. Unfortunately the Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress are hellbent on eroding our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms, whether it’s nominating radical gun-grabbers to senior positions in the executive branch or pushing anti-gun legislation,” Trump Jr. told the outlet. “The Second Amendment Task Force is entirely devoted to ensuring the Left is never successful in disarming American citizens.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau geared up for his country’s Pride Weekend by stopping by a gay bar Monday night, surprising customers there — and making history, according to local reports. Trudeau may be the first prime minister to visit a gay bar, but this is not his first display of support for the LGBTQ community.

Trudeau wants to repeal law on anal sex, wipe out past convictions
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government will introduce a law to expunge the criminal records of persons convicted of homosexual-related offences when buggery or sodomy were banned under Canada’s Criminal Code.
“Our government believes in equality and equal treatment for all Canadians,” Trudeau announced June 14.
“That is why we are moving forward on legislation that makes it possible to erase the convictions of Canadians who were unjustly convicted of a crime – simply for who they were, or who they loved.”
The legislation will expunge convictions on charges of gross indecency under “historical, unjust laws for sexual activity with a same sex partner,” according to the press statement.

New debate commission excludes Maxime Bernier from participating in official election debates — for now
Maxime Bernier, leader of the breakaway conservative party the People’s Party of Canada, may be blocked from participating in the two official election debates unless he can show his party has a “legitimate chance” of electing more than one MP.
That was the preliminary decision announced Monday by the Leaders’ Debates Commission, the body created by the Liberal government to organize two official debates this election, one in English and one in French. The commission is led by former governor general David Johnston.
The commission’s announcement says five parties are cleared to participate at the moment: the Liberals, Conservatives, New Democrats, Greens and the Bloc Québécois. All have met the minimum threshold for participating under the criteria established by the commission.
