The president lions club of Kampala Dr.Lawrence Mugisha has urged Ugandans to embrace regular medical checkups to prevent illnesses from getting chronic. The lions club of Kampala was donating Easter packages to patients at Uganda cancer institute in Mulago hospital.
The Uganda cancer institute attends to an average of 200 patients daily. With an inpatient bed capacity of eighty, the excess patients seek refuge in a shed nearby. The patients say they face numerous risks which include contraction of other diseases.
The patients want government to extend cancer treatments regionally to save them heavy transport costs to and from the hospital.
