after bending oem front wheel on bmw r1200gs, rather than fix wheel, i decided to put money towards a 21" front wheel by woody's wheel works of denver colorado and i love it. highly recommended. also includes my commentary on the motoz tractionator adventure tire. didn't love the tires.

riding up to hahns peak about 40 miles north of steamboat springs co usa. challenging ride for big adventure bikes. in second video, i'm pretty sure no other gs has made it up that far. i like to think anyway.

another reminder that it's wiser to rider with others when riding big adventure bikes. video shows riding the utah back country discovery route in september 2017 on bmw r1200gs loaded with camping gear. includes an unexpected water crossing at the 19:00 mins mark, that proved a bit entertaining. the whitney pass is supposed to be an "experts only" alternate route on the utbdr and, well, it didn't seem very expert to me. i've got some entertaining commentary on being a black person riding through small towns in utah. enjoy. there's an almost five minutes section starting around 8 mins in which i accelerate the clip. regular speed and narrative resumes at 12:33.

it finally arrived, ktm 790 adventure r rally. she exceeds my expectations. though i've ridden friends' 790 adv r and adv s -only on dirt, this bike exceeded what i remembered from riding those bikes. the street performance of the 790 far exceeded my expectations. this girl rips the canyons and she's fast. i can't wait to get on the dirt.
i had no intention of purchasing a 790. they just didn't appeal to me. the rally looks so much better -to me anyway- and i love the idea of the suspension.
i ordered loads of farkles. new wheels, tires, skid plate, brake/clutch levers, decat, seat, mirrors, pegs, aux lights, scotts damper, rekluse clutch, luggage/tail racks, heated grips, etc, etc, etc. i'll share the progress in upcoming videos and, of course, i'll post some dirt riding videos. and, i plan to keep ktm 690 and bmw r1200gs. gs will become more street focused.
stay tuned.

well, mt21 didn't last long. it lasted about 600 miles. my concern about the tire's durability on the heavier 790 proved true. the rocky terrain on engineer pass trashed the tire ...and i could ride gentler. next up the pirelli scorpion rally tire. pardon the goofy commentary and potty mouth ...if you've watched previous vids, you're probably used to both. :-D

perhaps, got a little lackadaisical and crashed in steep loose rocky section. crash is within first two minutes. subsequent sections were much more challenging and didn't crash.
also, first ride, after removing rekluse clutch. after riding with rekluse clutch for over a year, i decided to return standard clutch. i mostly prefer it. it seems more flexible. i don't think that i used rekluse properly. i'd often still manually slip clutch anyway. probably, the reason that i burned up rekluse clutch.
though, later, i did successfully ride this trail on the r1200gs. se this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYcVsD7Aoms&t=640s
