Noel de Medeiros Rosa was a sambista, singer, composer, mandolin player, Brazilian guitarist and one of the biggest and most important music artists in Brazil. He had a fundamental contribution in the legitimation of samba de morro and "asphalt", that is, between the middle class and the radio, the main means of communication in his time - a fact of great importance, not only for samba, but for the history of popular Brazilian Music. He died prematurely at the age of 26 due to tuberculosis, left a set of songs that became classics within the Brazilian popular songbook.
In 2016 he was awarded in memoriam with the Order of Cultural Merit of Brazil, in the Grand Master class
