For years, I was using hand pump spray bottles for wet downs and washes and sprays of colour. They are terrible. These garden sprayers work so much better!
This is not a sponsored video, I went out and bought these myself after using them at work and realizing they would be a perfect fit for my own studio. _________________________________________
Merek Harrison won't eat anything, except for dry cat food. We've tried feeding him meal worms, crickets, flies, and random bugs from the garden. No luck.
But he did get really excited about a mint leaf!

Back in 2005 and 2006, Brad Blucher and Kyle Clements would invite some friends over for weird sound art performances at our home studio, dubbed 'Headless Studios'.
After creating some accompanying visuals, I posted these 'Braps' to YouTube about a year ago. Today, I finally got around to watching them with my collaborator, Brad.
We share our thoughts on the results.

I was camping at Algonquin last week.
While I was at Burnt Island Lake, I set up my camera for some timelapse photography. It looked like a storm was approaching, and I wanted to test out a new camera rain cover I had picked up. As you can see from the video, once the rain starts, the clip ends. The rain bag was a failure. I'm glad I checked on my camera when I did, otherwise I would have lost it from water damage.
Once the rain ended, I neglected to clean my lens and resumed shooting.
Captured on my Nikon Z6 with the 24-200mm /4-6.3 lens.
Auto ISO and Program Automatic work together really well to allow for capturing the full range of exposures from the start of golden hour to astronomical dusk. You might notice the exposure length and ISO noise both increase as the video progresses.

A test of Nikon's second ever fullframe mirrorless camera, the Z6.
The ISO performance of the Z6 while shooting in 4K is demonstrated in both full frame and crop mode.
In my opinion, the footage from the Z6 looks pretty much perfect up to ISO 3200 when shooting in FX, or full frame mode, and the footage is still very usable up to ISO 12,800.
In DX, or crop mode, the footage looks perfect up to 3200, and is still perfectly usable up to ISO 6400.

I took my grumpy land urchin to the park today.
He was not impressed.

I took over 1200 shots while I was away on vacation!
What am I going to do with them all?
In the past, I've shown instructional videos where I already had an end goal in mind, and the video was mostly me going through the motions.
In this video, I'm figuring out what direction to take the photos while I shoot the video. I really don't know what I'm going to do to the photos just yet.

I gave my hedgehog some of his favourite treat - freeze dried duck liver.
And he got excited by it. Very exited. Maybe a little too excited...
I miss you little buddy!

I recently went on two camping trips in two weekends.
I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to see how each of my two main cameras compare in a similar situation - my old Nikon D600 DSLR, and my new Nikon Z 6 Mirrorless camera.
The Z6 wins, hands down.
The biggest advantages I noticed were the size, durability, and weather sealing, and the electronic viewfinder. Being able to see what the sensor sees is a huge advantage in difficult lighting setups, or during golden hour and blue hour, when the sky looks very different between what your eye sees and what your camera sees.

Testing the auto focus abilities of my full frame mirrorless camera, the Nikon Z6.
Using a CNC plotter, I create a consistent path for the AF system to follow, to see how the AF speed and AF tracking settings affect the reliability of the Z6's AF system.
AF seems far more reliable with tracking set to high, and AF speed set to slow.
These tests were performed with firmware version 2.0, with the Z6 and 24-70mm f/4 S lens, with aperture set to f/4 and shutter speed 1/50.
Auto ISO was left on, with ISO 100 in the good lighting test, and values between 800-1600 for the low-light test.
