Today I re-review the Electro Voice RE20 after 5 years of use. If you are looking for a dynamic mic that does great at background noise rejection while offering a brighter top end to get more articulation and a reserved mid section, then this is great. It is another studio workhorse mic for music studios that can be used successfully on nearly every instrument and for spoken word it's amazing; assuming you don't have a very sibilant voice.

Today I review the US-42: Maybe the best USB audio interface for livestreaming on twitch or youtube. It doesn't have the best preamps, build, or presets, but it has a LOT of features that would make for an interesting live stream. I don't recommend it for any professional applications.

Today I review a budget USB Mixer, the Behringer Xenyx Q1202USB. This thing has 12 inputs, and lots of features. However, there are some pretty serious issues that almost ruin it for me. The main issue is you can't hear your computers output while having zero latency monitoring. What do you think?

Today I review a microphone from David Royer, the Mojave MA-201fet. This thing offers a hefty low-end and a really smooth detailed and articulate top end. It does tend to suffer from plosives and pick up a lot of background noise, but the off-axis coloration is beautiful! Another thing to take note of is the Max SPL of 125dB.

Today we’re looking at the all in one podcast studio in a box, the Neat Beecaster. This is a usb microphone with a built in boom arm. It offers multiple polar patterns. Cardioid and Multiple Stereo settings and a mid forward, smooth sound. The main drawbacks of this microphone are the headphone amp the inability to remove the microphone from the stand, and some wiring issues that cause a hum if you touch the microphone’s grill.

Today I review the Cyber Acoustics USB Condenser Microphone, or the Cyber Acoustics Tahoe, or the Rainer CVL-2006, or any other name they put on this thing. This microphone fell flat on it’s face for me. It has constant digital interface, the tone is painful to listen to, it has a camera mount threading and not a microphone mount threading, and it picks up every bump of your desk. I think you can get MUCH better microphones for this price. I would not recommend this at all.

Today I review a very popular mic, the Aston Origin. This is a hyper detailed microphone that captures every nuance of your voice or instruments. The off axis coloration is outstanding, and there are no resonant frequencies whatsoever. Also it’s made in the UK, which is awesome. I do include a quick comparison to the Neat King Bee, Rode NT1, Shure SM7b, and Shure KSM32.
