Magix Music Maker (PS2) Song- No, it Really is My House
This is just another experiment with Magix Music Maker on the PS2. Not the greatest song, but then again I have no musical talent. The "game" just makes it extremely easy to make a working song.
It honestly didn't take me that long to make this one. Maybe an hour or more (which is probably why it's not that good).
Here are the games I played for the week of 11-01-2009
Sorry for this being late. I haven't played a game for the last two days, because I've been busy, but here are the games I played earlier in the week:
Gradius III (Snes)-
I didn't play this as heavily as I did the other games, but I popped it in for a decent amount of playing time. Call me a wussy, but yes, I played it on easy. I'm just trying to learn the game first. I'm playing on normal in this footage.
I also have the PS2 port of Gradius III and IV, and the Snes port is missing a few things from the arcade original, but the PS2 port is insanely hard. It's a good buy though, because you get two Gradius games in the package.
Lufia & the Fortress of Doom (Snes)-
I've had this for a few years now, but have yet to give it a playthrough. I posted the first ten minutes of footage of the game. I'm not that far in, and I'm already past level 20 with my main guy in the game (Dooky).
This is definitely for those with oldschool RPG tastes, because it throws an insane amount of random battles your way. I thought other 16-bit RPGs were bad for random battles, but Lufia takes the cake. Sometimes I get two steps out of a battle, just to get into another battle.
In the game's defense, there is an item that makes the random battles occur less frequently, but even then, they still appear a lot more frequent than in other RPGs.
Rival Turf (Snes)-
I got this game in the mail earlier this week after I ordered it from Amazon. I played it a friend's house when I was young, and thought it was a decent, but generic beat 'em up, and my assessment hasn't changed even though it's been easily over a decade since I played it last.
Rival Turf was an early beat 'em up for the Snes, and in it's defense, it actually one-ups the Snes port of Final Fight (a port of which I'm not a big fan of, and feel no need to play it now that I have the arcade version in one of the Capcom Classics Collections on the PS2), because it allows for two player coop.
Like I said, it's generic, and the enemies take off a ton, but it's not horrible, just unspectacular.
Zero Tolerance (Genesis)-
This one hasn't aged particularly well, but I've always been curious about it, so I ordered it from Amazon as well.
It's interesting to see a FPS on the plain old Genesis. No Sega 32X needed here, it's all on an original Genesis cart.
It's a standard Wolfenstein style FPS, and it's rather hard. This is more of a curiosity buy if you're interested, but it's definitely cool to play a FPS on the Genesis. Makes you wonder why Sega even bothered with the 32X if the Genesis alone was capable of handeling games like this, and VR.
Granted, this game can get rather choppy and sluggish at times.

Here's another random Gameplay vid. This is of the game Slave Zero on the Sega Dreamcast.
If you ask me, this game got a raw deal from reviewers, and gamers alike. Most will tell you how crappy it supposedly is, but it's just a simple shooter. If you take it as it is, and don't expect much more out of it, then you'll find it to be enjoyable for what it is. I personally don't think most reviewers or gamers know their head from their asses in gaming anyways.
Maybe I've just played too many games, but this is in no way a terrible game. If you think this game is the worst game you've ever played, then, quite simply, you haven't played enough games.
It has it's issues. The framerate dips pretty badly at times, some of the controls are hard to get used to, and it gets a little repetitive, but, overall, I enjoyed this game. Sometimes you just want a simple shooter, and that's what Slave Zero delivers.

This is a series of gameplay vids I'm doing highlighting overlooked games for the PS2.
Sky Odyssey is one of those games that people either love or hate. It got it's fair share of mixed reviews, because it's not an action packed game.
In sky Odyssey, you fly your plane through courses and not into dog fights. It's a flying game, and not a combat oriented game. It will probably bore the piss out of action gamers.
However, those who don't mind a nonviolent game will find an enjoyable experience. It's more Pilot Wings than Ace combat.
It also has multiple modes of play. This vid shows the Adventure mode (where I have an epic fail), and the target mode. But there's also training, free flight, and sky canvas mode (where you draw pictures with smoke).
The controls take a little getting used to. I'll admit that I'm pretty new to this game, and I have some obvious troubles with the controls still. I'm just trying to show off the gameplay here, and not my skills.
Graphically, this game was almost a launch game, so it's not impressive to look at, but as usualy, I don't play games for their looks.
Overall, the game may be short on action, but it's gameplay is engrossing enough to keep those who get into it hooked. If you don't mind a game that goes against the grain a little, then check out Sky Odyssey.
Sky Odyssey is only available on the PS2.
Note: I forgot about the Acrobatic points when capturing the footage, so sorry if I make the game look badly to veterans of the game.

I hate my computer. This footage freezes up around the 5:50 mark.
This it some poorly played footage of Dynasty Warriors 3 on the PS2.
DW2 was a launch game, and instead of being a traditional fighting game like the original DW on the PS1, it expanded the world, and switched to a beat 'em up. As far a launch games go, it was a great showing of the PS2's abilities even if it wasn't hugely detailed.
DW3 added so much more to the formula, improved visuals, two player mode, and etc. A lot of people complain about the repetition of the game, but the RPG leveling elements make up for it. Despite what people tell you, it is repetition for a reason.
I am uploading this to make a point, yes there is violence in this game, but there is no blood and gore. God of War is a brutal game, Dynasty Warriors, well, it is more violent than Mario (even though Mario murders poor defenseless mushrooms and turtles), but the ignorance shown towards this game by people in the media who heard it was a "brutal" game has angered me. The blame game does nothing for anyone, and people are responsible for their own actions. Plain and simple. Sick people need little influence to do what they do, and blaming Dynasty Warriors of all game just proves the media's ignorance. Blaming anything other than the person who made the decision themselves proves your ignorance.

Don't judge my poor playing, I just finally picked this game up yesterday, and this is my first time playing through it. Don't expect any spectacular playing here.
I am playing this on my Lenovo Legion Laptop I found on clearance for $400:
AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650Ti
8GB RAM
The settings are 1080p, and mostly high settings, and it runs pretty well
Until I finally upgrade my GPU in my desktop (still rocking a GTX 750 ti), I'll be using my laptop to play it. So far I like it better than Doom 2016. It's definitely a lot more action focused. Some day I'd like to think I will figure out a key-binding configuration to do fast weapon stitching, but I doubt it.

This is a video of me showing the proper way to play Nascar 98 on the PS1. I'm playing on a PS2 with texture smoothing on.
It's called paintball mode, and turbo mode. For Turbo Mode, go into the options menu, and while holding circle, hit up, left, down, right.
For Paintball mode, pause the game mid race, and go into the race statistics screen, and hit L1+L2+R1+R2 at the same time.
This was actually the very first racing game I ever owned on the PS1. I've played it the legitimate way many times, but I've probably wasted more time in it, goofing around with paintball mode on. It's especially fun if you turn on the option where crashes take you out of the race, and then create a pileup of your competitors.
It is just one of a million Nascar games, but as my first polygonal racing game, I still have good memories of this one.

I originally Uploaded this video in 2015, and I almost instantly regretted posting it. At the time I was working full time, and didn't have a lot of time, and I also had the mindset that I wanted to show more of the gameplay in the video, so I spaced out the voiced over segments to the point that they were almost fragmented in nature. Again, I was feeling rushed, and I wanted to show more gameplay, because I've always been more of a show-me, don't-tell-me type.
I remember one comment on the video where someone tore into my voice over, and I lost it, threw my headset and broke it. I felt like an abysmal failure, “Why am I wasting my time. I'm the worst video creator ever. I really do suck at this.”
As time went by, I couldn't even watch this video in it's original form. I've just ignored it's existence for 7 years. It just served as a confirmation of how bad at making videos I thought I was. I am my biggest critic.
Turns out, however, the video wasn't a complete loss, it just needed some fixing. For this footage, I ran it through Handbrake, and cut all the pauses between sentences to make it flow a lot better. It does make the footage a little choppier to watch, but it flows better now. I can actually watch the video now without feeling embarrassed by it.
It took me 20 hours to edit this down, but that was mostly because my editing software sucks, and bogs down if I make too many cuts to a video. By the end, I would make a cut, and I'd have to wait 30 seconds to a minute for it to register. Plus crashing, and constantly having to restart the software, and my computer.

This is a playthrough of the first level in the underrated PS2 FPS Cold Winter.
It's not a perfect run or anything, but I'm trying to showoff the gameplay not my gaming skills. It's on Veteran difficulty.
