More than those of any other living photographer, Sebastião Salgado's images of the world's poor stand in tribute to the human condition. His transforming photographs bestow dignity on the most isolated and neglected, from famine-stricken refugees in the Sahel to the indigenous peoples of South America. "Workers" is a global epic that transcends mere imagery to become an affirmation of the enduring spirit of working women and men. The book is an archaeological exploration of the activities that have defined labor from the Stone Age through the Industrial Age, to the present. Divided into six categories--"Agriculture," "Food," "Mining," "Industry," "Oil" and "Construction"--the book unearths layers of visual information to reveal the ceaseless human activity at the core of modern civilization. Extended captions provide a historical and factual framework for the images. "Salgado unveils the pain, the beauty, and the brutality of the world of work on which everything rests," wrote Arthur Miller of this photo book classic, upon its original publication in 1993. "This is a collection of deep devotion and impressive skill." An elegy for the passing of traditional methods of labor and production, "Workers" delivers a message of endurance and hope.
Zachary Foster PhD, is here to discuss his area of expertise -- the suppressed history of Palestine. Unfortunately, you cannot have a conversation about the history of Palestine without including the Zionist agenda. We discuss the truth about the history of Palestine prior to its occupation, how it was then attacked, occupied, and ethnically cleansed, as well as the dark history of Zionism, and how these two stories intersect. We also discuss the current situation in Gaza and how the world has changed because of it.

Documentary that examines the artwork of leading photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado and places his photographs into the context in which they were taken. In his monumental photo-essay _Workers_, seven years in the making, Salgado's dominant theme is the displacement of manual labor by technological advances. _Workers_ presents an unsentimental documentation of the effects of this new industrial revolution and focuses on laborers in Eastern Europe, Cuba, Gdansk, Brazil, India, Sicily, and Bangladesh. The program is rounded out by archival footage of Salgado's life and commentary from artists, photographers, critics, and writers.
How many of the Isreali state's henchmen does it take to remove a Palestinian flag?
In the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem, whose residents are known to be fiercely anti-Zionist, Palestinian flags regularly fly from the rooftops and hang over the streets. The residents do not recognize the authority of the State of Israel, and they make it clear that Israeli police are not welcome there. But the state seems to feel threatened by the flags, and once in a while the police march into the neighborhood’s narrow streets and allies to cut them down.
Powers of Ten and the Relative Size of Things in the Universe
DATE - 1977
Produced ten years after the Rough Sketch this is an updated, finished version, which also reflects advances in theory and research that occurred since the idea for Powers of Ten was first developed. This version adds two powers of ten—a hundredfold increase—to each end of the journey into the universe, and to the return trip to the microstructure of the carbon atom in the human body. The site of the journey’s beginning was changed to a park bordering Chicago’s Lake Michigan, to allow the journey to approach the disk of the galaxy at approximate right angles. Powers of Ten was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant.” Narration available in English, German, Japanese and Mandarin.
