What does Automatic Transmission Fluid look like with only 40,000 Miles?
I had a little spare time to do maintenance today so I dropped the pan on my 2015 Ram 1500 with the 65RFE transmission to change out the six year old fluid, filters and install a new Mag-Hytec aluminum pan.

This is not a how-to video, just showing what to expect from the fluid condition in a healthy & low-mileage automatic transmission. The color of the transmission fluid and the accumulation and type of wear material present in this video can be used as an example of normal & healthy so if you see a similar amount of material in your transmission it not a cause for concern just normal operation.

This transmission and truck have just over 40,000 miles and I have owned the truck since new. Roughly 2000 of those 40k miles were spent towing in excess of 3500 lbs and the truck has been used a bit off-highway throughout the Western states and completed three cross-country treks. A little bit of stump pulling and dump runs but no commercial duty or abusive operation.

There is no tuner or any other drivetrain modification on this truck. 5.7L Hemi, 3.55 axle ratio.

I'm sure some people call this kind of maintenance unnecessary but nobody ever replaced a transmission because the lubricant was too clean. I expect to have this truck a long time and this was a good opportunity to install the aluminum high-capacity pan I picked up a couple years ago.

This would be the same on a 545RFE or 45RFE or 68RFE transmission.
