Manitoba basic annual income experiment (MINCOME), 1974-1979
The Manitoba Basic Annual Income Experiment (MINCOME) was conducted between 1974 and 1979 under the joint sponsorship of Canada and Manitoba. It was the Canadian version of several other income maintenance experiments in North America that attempted to evaluate the impact of a guaranteed annual income (GAI) on the work behaviour of recipients. The specific form of the GAI tested by MINCOME is known as a negative income tax (NIT).
The experimental design of MINCOME featured enrollment of low income households in three areas: Winnipeg (the main site); rural Manitoba (a dispersed sample); and Dauphin (termed a “saturation” site). https://mdl.library.utoronto.ca/collections/numeric-data/microdata/manitoba-basic-annual-income-experiment-mincome-1974-1979

VANCOUVER -- Some family members from Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver say many of the disturbing conditions found in nursing homes in Ontario and Quebec have also been happening here in British Columbia.
They are urging B.C.’s premier to reconsider his decision not to hold an investigation into long-term care in our province.

A 75-year-old man, whose brutal beating last May at a nursing home in Detroit was captured on video, has died, according to his family.
Norman Bledsoe died on Monday following a months-long bout of depression and loss of appetite after the alleged attack, his family told Fox 2 and the Detroit News. Bledsoe's name also appears on an obituary page on a Detroit funeral home's website.

These are out Grandparents, family members and EVENTUALLY will be US, when we get older. Are we going to stop these 'people mills' for the elderly, that constantly boast their magnificent and tender care of your loved ones, only to starve them and beat them right after they shoo you out the door from a visit? These people should be given the best care possible. They MEAN something - they are human beings, not money chips to fill the coffers of these companies that profit off the deliberate contribution to the demise and downfall in the state of care for the elderly and aid in suffering an earlier death than they probably would've had by living with family. People need to speak up for those who can't: the bed ridden, the alzheimer sufferers, the dementia patients, the wheelchair bound, and other who don't have the strength or energy to speak up.

Much of the focus of international criticism of China’s far-reaching anti-terrorism campaign in Xinjiang has centred on the extrajudicial detentions of more than 1 million ethnic Uighurs and other Muslim minorities in internment and political re-education camps. The number of formal arrests and prison sentences has also increased. According to analysis by the New York Times, local courts sentenced 230,000 people to prison or other punishments in 2017 and 2018, as the campaign got under way. Xinjiang accounts for less than 2% of the country’s population but about 21% of all arrests in 2017. Who are the Uighurs?
Hide
The Uighurs are a predominantly Muslim Turkic-speaking ethnic group, primarily from China’s northwestern region of Xinjiang. They have been subject to religious and ethnic persecution by Chinese authorities, with rights groups claiming that in recent years more than 1 million people have been held in detention camps.
Having initially denied the existence of the camps, China has described them as “vocational education centres” in the face of mounting evidence in the form of government documents, satellite imagery and testimonies from escaped detainees. Satellite images have also suggested that more than two dozen Islamic religious sites have been partly or completely demolished since 2016.
In July 2019 China claimed that most of the people sent to the mass detention centres have “returned to society”, but this has been disputed by relatives of those detained. Around 1-1.5m Uighur are estimated to live overseas as a diaspora, many of whom have campaigned against the treatment of their families. China repeated these claims in December 2019, but offering no evidence of their release. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/sep/23/china-footage-reveals-hundreds-of-blindfolded-and-shackled-prisoners-uighur
So while we are busy worrying if we should wear a mask or not, this is happening in New Brunswick. What do you think about this potentially coming to a province near you?
https://www.gnb.ca/legis/bill/FILE/59/3/Bill-11-e.htm
"On May 5, Bill 11 is going through it’s final stage in New Brunswick legislature. If this bill passes, vaccinations will be mandatory for children to attend public school and childcare services. No religious or philosophical exemptions. No opting out. Vaccines or homeschool. And according to Dominic Cardy, an adult mandate program will soon be on its way. So what does that mean exactly?
The New Brunswick Routine Immunization schedule requires children to receive 66 doses by the age of 18. And 46 doses by age 4. Bill Gates has stated that a COVID-19 vaccine will likely be added to the newborn vaccine schedule.
Take vaccines or not, it’s your choice!
If bill 11 passes New Brunswicker’s will have no choice.
This isn’t about being “anti vax or pro vax” this is about human rights. Where there is risk, there should always be choice."
To be clear I have sworn to protect informed consent and a right to refuse. I do not support Bill 11.

July 1st is the day when we traditionally honour Canada and celebrate the great country that it is. A day to acknowledge our history, our principles, and our freedoms.
The challenge we face today is that Canada is no longer the same country it was even a few months ago. Canada is no longer a bastion of freedom, no longer a country that preserves and protects rights, it is no longer a shining example of democracy.
This country is unraveling before our very eyes.

Bill 161, the Ontario’s government’s omnibus a final vote in coming weeks. It’s a Smarter and Stronger Justice Act, could go to wide-ranging bill that makes changes to legal aid, civil proceedings, juries and who can perform marriages. The law would also add new certification tests for class action lawsuits. At least 10 class actions have already been filed against Canadian long-term care providers since the COVID-19 pandemic began. One executive of a private long-term care company recently lost her job after she was reportedly overhead complaining about “blood-sucking” class action lawsuits. Eighty-two per cent of the people killed by the disease in Canada have lived in long-term care, according to research by the International Long Term Care Policy Network. Four times more people have died in privately-run homes than those run by municipalities, the Toronto Star reports. There have also been a disproportionate number of deaths in homes that were never upgraded to 1998 safety standards, which limited homes to a maximum of two residents per room, according to CBC News.
