Surviving this area without gun is surprisingly hard. Main reason - in 2nd building you cannot hold the shelf, knife cannot reach. And in 1st building shelf can only take ~7-10 hits, then it breaks. Surviving outside is impossible for long - enemies surround you and they are very fast.
So, the only way to stay alive is to get away from active pursuers and hide in bottleneck places.
Now, to describe what exactly I did and why - and what could’ve happened with better/worse luck (I had few successful attempts that looked worse that this one - but were easier/lucky).
I start by opening the only locked door - one behind the barn. That way, later I’ll have a bigger lap to make - and enemies will take longer to get back to me. Then I run into 2nd building and close the door. Door is important - otherwise, there is over 50% chance that guy with hammer would hit me, while I climb the ladder.
As I get up, there are few possibilities - in some (rare) cases, one lycan is already on a roof and I can only dodge him for a bit, until 2nd guy climbs up as well. But normally, first guy should be climbing up at exact moment of me arriving to the top - and with precise hits, it’s possible to knock him down up to 4 times, and 2nd guy once, but after that, there is a high risk of 3rd one climbing up from the other side - so, at this point (if not earlier) it’s time to run to the left separate part of the roof. In perfect situation I better wait until lycan at the back start climbing up - then I can safely jump down.
On my way down to the water and to the barn, there are usually 2-3 enemies - and at least some of them don’t have weapons in hands, so it’s easy to provoke, retreat and then run past them. Near the water, you sometimes may even skip provoking if they are far enough. But if they have weapons it’s very risky, sinc radius of their attack is much larger, and provoking them would mean going back - and a lot of enemies are behind, so it’s case-by-case situation.
It’s good idea to slow down and walk instead of running behind the barn - that way more enemies will come that way and they may get a little bit stuck. It’s important to understand, that at this point, no matter how many enemies appear on map, only a couple can be active and target me - that means, that if active guys will stuck on something, passive enemies will not advance on me, even if they stay closer. I won’t pretend that I know exactly how it works - but my guess is, that giant and archer are always active - and so instead of normal 4 active enemies, in last 2 minutes I only have 2 - and 3 before giant spawns.
That allows me to run into first house and wait for ~10-20 sec, then jump to the basement and wait there for about a minute. I assume, when I do that, active enemies change and they cannot run to me, only slowly walk. Maybe it’s something different, but either way, it’s very consistent tactic. Now, if I ignore flour, there is a very high chance that I’ll be damage by lycan, that comes from the left - so if you don’t want to use flour, just wait ~same time as I did minus 5-10 seconds and run. Although, you may get trapped without flour after getting outside.
And now it’s basically 2nd lap around the map - but now, giant either spawned or about to spawn, and when you enter 2nd house it’s a good idea to barricade that door. If you’re lucky, 2 active guys will both stay near a window - and giant will clear with his hammer anyone who comes close to the door. I actually won that way twice - but decided, it was “too lucky” and a bit unfair to record - because most of the time it doesn’t happen, either 1 or 2 guys start breaking in through the door and knife can’t stop them. Even giant won’t stop them - if he kills them, new ones will activate. If lycans break in and I’m still inside, I can’t climb up without taking damage. It’s possible to run past the giant - but it’s an insane risk, so the only way to be relatively safe is to start climbing up again after ~2 full animations of door being hit.
After climbing up, pray that route down is free and you can run again to the barn. In at least 50% attempts it is. Finally, after getting back into first house - use shelf. Best thing to do now is to protect it with knife - at soon as lycan’s hit lands on it, knife hit will make him jump away - and it’ll be a couple of seconds before next hit. That strategy can win ~30 seconds if performed well (and I was pretty bad at it this time). Note, at this point, running into the basement is very risky - there is always an enemy, sometimes armored one - it can be avoided, but you’ll have to run outside, where you will be quickly surrounded. So, the only thing left to do is to hold the door™ and use flour on first floor when lycans finally get in. And if you’re unlucky enough to still have time left - try to run out through the basement, at this point it should be only 10-15 seconds left, so.. cross your fingers.. mentally, because your real ones should be busy :)
