The purpose of this video (besides an excuse to go out and play on the two-cylinders for a little while) was to test the auto-follow feature of the new DJI Phantom 4 drone.
The drone did okay with following it in a straight line, but seemed to have a lot of trouble once I turned too sharp and lost it out of the frame. I can understand that happening, but I think they should work on the software some to allow it to better re-acquire the visual lock and begin to follow the subject again. It's kind of a pain to have to drive all of the way back to the controller just to bring the drone home and start all over again.
One of the main reasons I upgraded from the 3 to the 4 was for the auto-follow feature. I want to be able to do a lot of farming pictures with it this year, so hopefully it will work out okay. I imagine DJI is working on improving the system and will be releasing an update (or series of updates) in the near future.
I'm sorry that there is no audio or music. I should have had another device with me recording the sound of the machines. Since I didn't, I couldn't find any royalty free music that didn't drive me crazy after 20 minutes. Sometimes silence is golden.
There's also a shot of me on the Honda CRF 450 towards the end.
If nothing else, I hope you enjoy some shots of a John Deere 730 Diesel and Model A. The 730 is a 1960 model, and the A is a 1951 model.

The three-point mounted snow blower is a great way to move a lot of snow. This video is of a John Deere 4230 with an attached 96" snow blower, moving snow after a good nights snow storm.

I took a nice little stroll to the beef cows that are currently on the dry farm on the 1939 John Deere Model A. I've been working on the tractor most of the winter, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to warm the motor up a bit and let it stretch its legs. It was so pretty that I decided to film it. Since I'm just holding my camera, it's a little bumpy. The video shows the beautiful west hills in Freedom, Wyoming (which is actually in Idaho) on the Robert Weber farm.

Yesterday I picked up a John Deere 730 Diesel. I'd like to be able to use it for a few farming things next year, and have always wanted a diesel two-cylinder. So, when one came up for sale that I liked & was in the right price range, I quickly took up the offer. Unfortunately it was on the opposite side of the state, so it made for a bit of a long drive. But I had a good time getting it home. There's a few little things that need worked on, but other than that, it seems to be pretty good machine.

Driving the 1951 John Deere Model A in the snow. The narrow front doesn't do as good as a wide front, but with a little braking on the turns it did okay.

Feeding the beef cattle with the John Deere 630, December 2020.
We don't have very much snow yet (which is unusual for this time of year), but it has been quite cold. As such, the cattle are happy to see the feed!
The tractor is a John Deere 630 pulling a make-shift hay feeder (made from an old "round-bale bagger").

With the time change, I was able to get home a little earlier and get the cattle fed before the sun went down. That and we actually had a nice sunny day--something that seems pretty rare during the winter!
Right now is also calving season. We currently have about 12 little calves running around. They are pretty cute when they are younger and trying to figure things out.
