It’s Thanksgiving.
A day to give thanks and to appreciate all that we have been given in life. A day to reflect on what is good around us, and who makes it that way.
And so today, on this day to give thanks, Jim, Susan and Kerry would like to thank all of YOU.
Thank you.
Because truly we are grateful to YOU.
Three years ago, Susan and Jim decided they would likely have to close up shop. They could no longer afford to do this out of their own pocket anymore. For most of their lives they have rescued, helped and rehabilitated animals, and financially it had taken it’s toll.
I (Kerry) had recently retired and suggested that instead of closing up ...that we become a non-profit. I truly believed in the good in the world and I believed that when people saw what Jim and Susan were doing - that they would step up and that they would help. I believed, and still do, in the goodness in the world. In the compassion - and in the animal lovers. I believe that the good and the kind outweighs the cruel and the selfish.
And you did.
You came through.
You stepped up.
You have held our hands, you have cheered our victories, you have mourned our defeats and you have walked on this path with us as we have struggled to make a difference, one animal at a time.
And so on this day of giving thanks...Susan, Jim and I would like to thank all of you - for helping and supporting us in these past few years. Because the kindness and compassion is out there....you just have to reach out and ask for help, and thousands of hands will reach back.
Thank YOU - yes YOU - for being one of those hands.
Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you.
Jim, Susan, Kerry and all the animals (big and small) at the Orphaned Wildlife Center.
