Dr. Susan Crockford, zoologist, has written a few books to make the science of polar bears accessible and interesting for adults and kids. Her adult thriller "Eaten" is about the possibility of polar bears turning to remote communities in Canada to hunt humans for food. Polar bears are vicious predators, despite their charming looks. A tamer book is meant for kids "Polar Bears - Myths and Facts" - with lots of pictures and interesting text. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3QHYCBQeM8

Recently Deputy Governor Timothy Lane of the Bank of Canada gave a presentation entitled "Thermometer Rising" and claimed the Fort McMurray wildfire #ymmfire of 2016 was caused by climate change, but the evidence shows the vast scope and damage of the Fort McMurray wildfire was due to lack of preparation, not following the recommendations of the Flat Top Review Committee (on the catastrophic Slave Lake fires of 2011) and not following FireSmart. Calling this devastating wildfire 'climate change' and demanding investment in 'climate change' is a diversion of necessary public funds from the practical measures all Canadians can take to reduce and prevent such uncontrolled fires. The boreal forest MUST burn to renew itself, so wildfires will always be with us. They generally need not threaten homes and lives if FireSmart measures are taken and if Flat Top Review recommendations are followed. Be prepared!

We are frequently told that human activity is causing glaciers to recede. Dr. John D. Harper, FGSA,FGAC, PGeol., former director of the Geological Survey of Canada explains that glaciers come and go with cyclical warming and cooling throughout time - and this has been the case long before human use of fossil fuels, The evidence is written in the rocks.

Many people think human caused global warming will result in sea level rise that will wash Florida away. Dr. John Harper, FGSA,FGAC, PGeol., former director of the Geological Survey of Canada, explains that the land 'platform' of Florida is different than most of the USA (even though they are physically connected to each other). Florida's platform is made of limestone, a chalk-like substance, that readily disintegrates when exposed to fresh water. This explains the reason why so many sink holes have appeared in Florida. Sea levels dropped dramatically and exposed this land to air and fresh water. In the Bahamas, where the same kind of land platform exists there are deep sea caves where human remains and artifacts are being found. Human-caused climate change is not the cause of Florida's gradual natural breakdown due to the inherent weakness of the platform and erosion by the elements.

Tree planting is a popular urban program with residents, but do people realize how much it costs them? Trees are not natural survivors in urban environments, and sometimes Mother Nature is even more punishing than usual. This past year's El Nino winter across the prairies will no doubt wreak havoc with the urban forest in the spring. There was a winter freeze up in the fall, as usual; then the warm El Nino winter rolled in. Tree roots were frozen while tree branches were exposed to warm, spring-like conditions. Then suddenly in January, minus 50 degree Celsius winter hit. It's likely many trees will die and will need to be replaced this spring. If you are concerned about rising municipal taxes, have a look at your city's tree-planting budget. Maybe it would be cheaper if people planted their own trees, on their own lots. Despite being told for years that wind and solar are cheap and 'free', the energy crisis is revealing the truth. "To get wind you need oil"...lots of it, along with lots of natural gas and coal. In addition to these costs, wind and solar also require exotic commodities and rare earth minerals, all of which have been skyrocketing in price by hundreds or thousands of per cent in a few short months. Consequently, instead it being a springtime of tulips, it is, for these industries, 'Tulip-O-Mania.' 'Tulip-O-Mania' refers to a time in Holland when tulips first arrived from Turkey. They were so rare and beautiful that a vast futures market began, with a single tulip bulb escalating to the value of a house or a ship. Toward the end of this 'bubble', people were paying a fortune for tulip 'offset' bulbs from tulips that had not even been planted or propagated yet. Similarly, carbon markets have been based on the Renewable Energy Credits generated by wind and solar and since carbon markets entail 'the lack of delivery of an invisible substance to no one' there's room for a lot of hanky-panky. This is discussed in Interpol's "Guide to Carbon Trading Crime." Some wind producers are now reporting that they are selling products at a loss just to maintain cash flow and some jobs. Clearly no country will be able to rely on wind and solar as a 'net zero' solution in such a market. People should question why governments are still pushing wind and solar when this is the reality. Certainly not 'cheap' or 'free' - not that they ever were! Donna Laframboise, journalist and former Vice President of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, gives a presentation about climate activism and joins Michelle Stirling for a question and answer session.
There’s a climate problem, all right. A climate of intolerance, where dissent is not permitted. Climate activists insist their point-of view is the only one that is acceptable, the only one that is respectable, and the only one that deserves to be heard.
