When my Great Aunt died in 2012, I was given her old writing pencils from when she was working in Boston. I haven't used them in 7 years because I was told they contained lead. Among the various pencils were a Faber Castell Velvet 3557 Number 2 pencil and Number 2.5 pencil. I decided to give the Faber Castell Velvet 3557 Number 2 a try while coloring an oversized print of Page 8 of The MSPaint Comic: Painting North Korea Red.

You can still find old, often unopened boxes of the Faber Castell Velvet 3557 pencils on sites like Ebay and even Amazon.com. Be careful because they're not all number 2 pencils.
I might pick up a box of these Faber Castell Velvet 3557 series pencils in the softer number 1 variant to help achieve some darker color along side the number 2 pencils.
These are the Number 1 pencils.
