In this video, I discuss Satoshi's approach to Bitcoin network security, and how he was not averse to using more powerful hashing hardware to defend the network.
Trying to make your crypto ASIC-resistant is like mandating that you can only bring a knife to a gun fight. There's nothing virtuous or commendable about it.
Satoshi understood that a hash arms race would unfold. He was correct, and now Bitcoin has passed the "ASIC event horizon" unlike any other crypto.
If Monero ever actually became valuable like Bitcoin, companies would develop ASICs for it.
There's no way to stop people from building highly specialized hardware to mine your crypto. You can keep changing the hashing algorithm, but if it makes economic sense, large companies will develop ASICs to mine it.
This creates massive centralization and benefits large incumbents with billions of dollars to spend on R&D.
Bitcoin has fortunately passed the ASIC event horizon. Bitcoin ASICs are no longer made by a single company like Bitmain. Bitcoin ASICs are becoming commodified, and there's no other crypto asset that has made this transition.

In this video, I discuss whether it is possible for a government or other hostile attacker to seize or freeze your Bitcoin.
Unlike almost every other traditional asset (stocks, bonds, bank accounts, etc), Bitcoin has no counter-party risk and cannot be frozen at the press of a button.
The only way that someone can steal your Bitcoin is if you store your recovery seed (the human readable version of your Bitcoin private keys) in a place where it can be viewed and used to sign a transaction stealing your Bitcoin-- or if an attacker can get extended access to your hardware wallet and is able to extract your private keys.
In the case of Andrew Tate, it appears that authorities were able to get their hands on at least some of his hardware wallets. But an order to seize his Bitcoin is quite different from the actual act of seizing his Bitcoin, which does not appear to have happened yet.
Multi-sig cold storage is the best solution for long-term Bitcoin savings, and can make it almost impossible for an attacker to seize your Bitcoin.

In this video, I discuss the BRICS proposal to issue a new trade currency backed by gold.
There are many pitfalls that cannot be avoided by a gold-backed currency: gold is expensive and difficult to store, assay, and move around to settle trade imbalances. It is outdated 19th century monetary technology in a digital world.
The gold standard has already been tried and been found wanting. A gold standard always inevitably leads to massive centralization, as well as having to trust governments and central banks that they won't print more money than they have gold to back it.
But aren't central banks loading up on gold?
Yes, they certainly are, but remember that these are highly politicized entities that are not investing for returns, but usually with more geopolitical objectives.
And they have an abysmal track record. If you loaded up on US Treasuries when they did, your returns have been terrible. Central banks are loading up on the one asset that will be the first to be demonetized by Bitcoin, which is the ultimate in economic poetic justice.
Unlike gold, Bitcoin is modern monetary technology. It is easy to store, verify, and zap around the world.
The BRICS countries would be much better off just using Bitcoin, rather than trying to reinvent a system that has already failed before.

In this video, I discuss whether or not Bitcoin is correlated with the U.S. stock market.
If you look at returns, Bitcoin and the stock market are only loosely correlated. But because Bitcoin and the stock market (as measured by the S&P 500) are cointegrated, one must instead look at price correlation between the price of Bitcoin and the price of the S&P 500. Following Plan B's analysis, I conclude that Bitcoin and the stock market are indeed both cointegrated and correlated, with a very high R-squared of 95%.
This makes sense, since both the stock market and Bitcoin are increasingly driven by Fed money printing, quantitative easing, and the debasement of the US dollar. The more the Fed prints, the higher both the stock market and Bitcoin should go.
According to Plan B's regression equation, Bitcoin can be viewed as a levered version (416x) of the S&P 500, with only 100% downside. Thus a very small allocation to Bitcoin should be able to give an investor equivalent exposure to a stock index fund.
The Fed's balance sheet, the US stock market, and Bitcoin should continue to rally as the Fed continues to sterilize the US current budget deficit, as well as massive future entitlement spending.

In this video, I discuss how to buy long-dated call options on Bitcoin, using the LedgerX exchange. This is a risky trade and could result in the 100% loss of any capital invested.
Bitcoin call options on LedgerX each correspond to 1/100 of a Bitcoin. So if one wants full exposure to 1 Bitcoin as the underlying, one will need to buy 100 call options.
I examine the possible payouts for two different out-of-the-money strikes: the December 2021 15,000 and 50,000 strikes. I note that one risks 100% in premium to possibly get a 19x to 31x payout if Bitcoin is at $100,000 on December 31, 2021.
Because these European call options are physically-settled, one can exercise one's long call option at expiration and receive actual Bitcoin. One can also trade out of the long call option position at any time and take profits in U.S. dollars, simply by "selling to close" the call option.

In this video, I discuss how to earn a higher interest rate by holding the stablecoin USDC at BlockFi.
One can wire USD into BlockFi, convert it into USDC (a U.S. dollar stablecoin), and then start earning interest (currently 8.6% APY).
This is made possible by the fact that BlockFi is probably lending out the USDC to institutional investors who use a "cash and carry" trade on cryptos like Bitcoin, that enables them to earn annual returns in excess of 10%.
I believe that investing in USDC is a safe trade, as long as one is comfortable with the counter-party risk that one is taking on with BlockFi and whomever is insuring their accounts, as well as Circle which is the company that backs USDC.
I personally prefer to hold a portfolio that includes both USD and Bitcoin (BTC). The former will lose money over long periods of time due to fiat monetary debasement, while the latter should more than make up for it as a powerful hedge.

In this video, I discuss the May 31 White House meeting between Biden, Powell, and Yellen, and what it means for the financial markets this summer.
I believe that it is almost certain that the Fed will continue to tighten into the coming stock market crash and "economic hurricane" (Jamie Dimon's phrase). The decision has been made to go after inflation and temporarily turn a blind eye to stock market carnage.
I expect the Nasdaq to go down to at least 10,000 and Bitcoin to hit $20,000- $25,000 as Fed tightening continues.
The Fed will probably be forced to reverse course a month or two before the November mid-term elections. At that point, expect stocks and Bitcoin to rocket back up to new all-time highs.
Unfortunately many altcoins will die this summer and never come back.
