Alpine BLUE Joffre Lakes (Canada's MOST Beautiful Glacial Lake)
We drove 2.5 hours North of Vancouver, BC to explore some of the most beautiful lakes in Canada at Joffre Lakes Provincial Park. These three stunning, bright blue, glacier-fed lakes are accessed by hiking through some beautiful mountains on a moderate, but well maintained trail. The third lake features a camping area with wonderful views of the Matier Glacier, which is the source of these brilliant blue, alpine lakes.

We made our way deep into Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Utah to search for the desert oasis known as Upper Calf Creek Falls. We also stumbled across some delicious wild edible cactus fruit. Calf Creek Falls is a perennial waterfall in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah that totals 214 feet (65 m). The lower tier is a 126-foot (38 m) cascade and is very popular, because it can be reached by an easy hike on a 5½ mile roundtrip trail. The upper tier is a 88-foot (27 m) plunge and is much less known, as it requires a 1-mile (1.6 km) scramble past the lower falls. With over 1500 caves, Vancouver Island is a spelunker's (or caver's) paradise. The only problem is that only three of those cave locations are made public. Luckily, when we were at Horne Lake Caves, we were connected by the staff there to an amazing local caving group. One of the members treated us to some wonderful Canadian hospitality by letting us stay at his house. He cooked us a great breakfast, loaned us some gear and then took us down to explore one of the most beautiful caves that I've ever seen in person. It had an active creek running through it and we rappelled (and later climbed back up) two small waterfalls inside the cave. It was an amazing experience and I am tremendously grateful to our extremely welcoming local friend Bill, who made this possible. We will cherish this adventure for years to come!
