This is a field test that i conducted on an emergency smoke mask that I purchased off of Amazon for about $35.00 or so. The mask certainly helps you breathe with out choking, but it doesn't add any oxygen to the air you are inhaling. So it will probably extend the amount of time you can function in a very smokey environment, but it will not allow to to stay there for very long at all! You will need to make your first priority getting yourself and your loved ones out of the area of the fire!
