The FINAL Generation: Psalm 83 & God’s Plan for the Future. Prophecy points us to Christ, the author of history and the theme of Scripture. God's Word is, at its very center, prophetic. The God who recorded the beginning that no one but Him witnessed in Genesis is also the God who recorded the ending that no one but Him could have ever written in Revelation. Isn’t it amazing that God devotes 1/4th or 25% of the Bible to the inseparable union of the world’s destiny with God’s Chosen People of Promise, Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews? Always remember: THE CENTRALITY OF ISRAEL IN THE BIBLE. Using just an ordinary Bible with no study notes (my Bible is 1100 pages long), you find that: 600 pages (Genesis to Song of Solomon) are Israel’s origin, history, wanderings away from God, and worship (that is 600/1100 pages or) 54%; and 250 pages are devoted to the prophets (Isaiah to Malachi) that speak of the doom coming first to Israel then and the world in the future (that is 250/1100 pages or) 23%; and then we get: -110 pages devoted to the Life of Christ (Matthew to John) that lasts for (110/1100 pages or) -10% of the Bible; and then -120 pages devoted to the record of Acts to Jude that explains Christ's Church’s birth and mission for 120/1100 pages or 11%; and then the -20 pages of Revelation describing the centrality of Israel and Jerusalem at the end of the world take up almost (20/1100 pages or) 2% of the Bible. So, just a simple glance at the Table of Contents of God's Word would make a reader conclude that Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews are very important to God. Also, just the layout of the Bible that opens and closes with Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jews with the Church’s 21 % of the Word sandwiched importantly, but intentionally between the opening and closing. God, who engineered the Scriptures, has chosen to devote fully (4/5ths or) 79% of the Bible to Israel’s origin, calling, chastisement, return, and future troubles that engulf the world. Each time the Old Testament prophets explained the future, they universally began with Israel, and all details revolved around Jerusalem and the Land. Each time Jesus explained how the world would end, he started with Israel, Jerusalem, and the Jewish people (Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21). Each time Paul explained how the world would end, it began with Israel, and all details revolved around Jerusalem in Romans 9-11, 1 & 2 Thessalonians (II Th. 2:4). Each time John explained how the world would end, he began with Israel, and all details revolved around Jerusalem in Revelation 11, 13, 16, and 19. Israel is the 3rd largest topic in the Bible. So we are hearing in Revelation 8 from God who has as one of His unchanging attributes the motivation and essential character that: God is Love God is eternally and forever revealed as possessing the attribute of love (1 Jn. 4:8). Yet, the same God of love, that created the world, flooded the world. His love never wanes, and neither does another of His attributes: His justice. The same Just God that flooded the world is also the God of love, who sent Noah as a preacher of righteousness (2 Peter 2:5) to warn the world of the coming wrath of the God who waited during the ark’s construction (1 Pet. 3:20). So, to really comprehend the events of Revelation 8 we need to also understand that: God is a Savior In the Old Testament God first reveals Himself as a Savior when He went looking for fallen Adam & Eve (Gen. 3:9), then as a Savior made a way for their sins to be covered through shed blood (Gen. 3:21), after He had promised them that there was a coming One who would be crushed for sinners (Gen. 3:15). God is further revealed all the way through the Old Testament as a Savior: Isaiah 43:11(NKJV) I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. Isaiah 45:21 (NKJV) Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it since that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me. Then in the New Testament, we see God our Savior in action: sending Christ, allowing Christ to die as a substitute on the Cross, raising Him, and seating Him at His right hand. Then, Christ's apostles proclaimed the loving gospel of God the Savior: 1 Timothy 2:3-4 (NKJV) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Titus 3:4 (NKJV) But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, Revelation Portrays our God of Love That God of love who is a Savior is the One we see behind every scene of Revelation. • God the Savior sends the 144,000 evangelist servants sealed and sent in Rev. 7:1-8 with such astounding results. • God the Savior saves the countless multitude in Rev. 7:9 from out of the Holocaust of the Tribulation. • God the Savior sends the two witnesses in Revelation 11. • God the Savior sends the angel preaching the everlasting gospel in Rev. 14:6, after He recalls His 144,000 evangelists in Rev. 14:1. They stand with Christ and watch as He deploys the next evangelistic tool in the form of the preaching angel. • God the Savior also saves the ones who resisted the Beast and his mark (Rev. 15:2-4). • God the Savior Himself sends a message from Heaven to the Earth in Revelation 18:4-8, with one last warning and plea for humans to come to Him instead of being destroyed. The complexities of all of history are easily and vividly assembled for us, by God Himself, right here in Daniel 2. The Rule of Four Empires & The Coming of Christ When Jesus first explained the End of Days to His disciples He used as His central point, the coming of the worst human whoever will live. The antichrist is the greatest fiend, the most powerful, destructive, evil, wicked, and harmful human who will ever live. Jesus mentions him in Matthew 24:15 (as we will see later), then cites Daniel the prophet. Basically then Jesus had two central truths in His longest explanation of the future, for us. First: The Antichrist Will Be the Worst Human Ever Think about this man with so many different names in the Bible: the man of sin, the son of perdition, the beast, the lawless one, and the Antichrist. Of all who have ever hated good, hated God, and hated Christians, the Antichrist will be the pinnacle. If we were to take all of the worst persecutors, deceivers, and malignant terrorists and stew them until they boiled down to the essence of evil, the Antichrist is what would pour out: the man of sin, the son of perdition, and the false Christ. When this man appears he will pulsate with the power of demons, and flow with the evil desires of Satan, so much so that even people’s money, buying, selling, and even lives will be only at his nod. Jesus describes the most amazing event in the future when He was describing the end times, by a citation from the prophet Daniel.
