Where can I see the Lunar Eclipse?
Eastern Canada, Eastern US, Eastern Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Central America and all of South America.
I'm sorry for both of my European viewers, but you won't be able to see this eclipse live,
but I'll post some video if the clouds are open at the correct time. (fingers crossed)
Why is the moon red? This phenomenon is known as Rayleigh scattering.
It is named after British physicist John William Strutt, also known as Lord Rayleigh.
The sunlight that we see is a type of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted by the Sun.
Known as the visible light, it looks white but is composed of colors of different wavelengths,
with violet having the shortest wavelength and red having the longest.
When sunlight entering the Earth's atmosphere strikes the particles that are smaller than the light's wavelengths,
it gets scattered into different directions. Not all colors in the light spectrum, however, are equally scattered.
Colors with shorter wavelengths, especially the violet and blue colors, are scattered more strongly,
so they are removed from the sunlight before it hits the surface of the Moon during a lunar eclipse.
Those with longer wavelengths, like red and orange, pass through the atmosphere.
This red-orange light is then bent or refracted around Earth,
hitting the surface of the Moon and giving it the reddish-orange glow that total lunar eclipses are famous for.
Earth's atmosphere causes the red color!
The layer of air surrounding our planet is made up of different gases, water droplets, and dust particles.

Then yellow flowers will appear. Insects will come from miles around for the sweet nectar. Come along and enjoy this from your home. Videos will be short, just one minute of your time each day to see something really cool happen!
