Jewish-led activists held a sit-in inside and then protest outside Senator Bernie Sanders' office on Capitol Hill Wednesday afternoon demanding he support a ceasefire by Israel. Capitol Police arrested about 15 people demanding "ceasefire now" and "not in our name!"
Eva Borgwardt, Political Director at "If Not Now," described that "Jews and Palestinians are rising up together right now through our grief in what is turning into the biggest revival, the biggest mobilization of the U.S. anti-war movement since the war in Iraq" and that they need Senator Sanders to stand with them. She calls Sanders an "important and visionary leader" who needs to join calls for a ceasefire.
Borgwardt added that "Many of us have tried to reach our lawmakers in many different ways this week, and we know that they are not listening, which is why we have come into the senator's office" to show their grief and that they will be there standing with Senator Sanders if he calls to end the war and stop sending weapons to Israel. "We are not leaving until you call for a ceasefire as we know you can, and as we fear only you can."
"Over 300 Gazan children were killed just yesterday," an activist said inside Bernie Sanders' office earlier. "We wanna know how many more Palestinians have to die, how many Israelis, before we get a ceasefire, before we can count on our leaders."
The group then migrated to the hallway, where their demonstration was deemed illegal by Capitol Police and warnings were given before the arrests began.
Even as they were handcuffed and loaded into USCP vans outside the office building on Capitol Hill, activists continued to sing "ceasefire now! Not in our name!"
"Thank you, we will get justice for you!" supporters yelled from across the street from the arrested activists.

As the 2023 March for Life arrived at the Supreme Court on Friday afternoon, abortion access supporting counter-protesters were already there to oppose them, leading to verbal conflict. "Be gay, fund abortion" said one large banner a protester unfurled.

"Fuck the 1 percent!" "Taxation is theft!" In the era of Trump, street activism has generally become divisive, and centered on conflict between the ideological left and right. One movement that has attempted to sidestep the division is the "Million Mask March," an annual anti-corruption event that takes place in cities throughout the world since 2013.
The event drew some activists who are now members of the "antifa movement," while others personally support President Trump. Organizers used the 2018 march to focus on common values (equality and freedom) and common enemies (the Church of Scientology, the Federal Reserve, and the government itself).
Originally, the group was founded as a street wing of Anonymous, an online hacker activist collective.
While some tense moments occurred between the sometimes-smoke-bomb-wielding activists and cars they blocked on the street, the event remained generally peaceful and upbeat.

"We will make sure that anti-Semitism has no place in the struggle for liberation. We will fight white supremacy side by side. I see you, I hear you, I am with you!" said Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors at a Jewish-led Pro-Palestine demonstration in Hollywood, California on Wednesday.
