DESCRIPTION: Why the current vitamin D recommendations may be too low, other expert recommendations may be too high, and 2000 international units a day may be just right. Have a question about this video? Leave it in the comment section at http://nutritionfacts.org/videos/resolving-the-vitamin-d-bate/ and I'll try to answer it! Please feel free to post any ask-the-doctor type questions here in the comments section and I'd be happy to try to answer them. This is the 8th video in a nine day series on vitamin D (http://nutritionfacts.org/topics/vitamin-d/). Just remember that anyone who eats cups a day (as they should!) of dark green leafy vegetables should probably stick to low-oxalate greens (i.e. basically any greens other than spinach, swiss chard, and beet greens) to avoid the risk of kidney stones. I’ve got videos coming up on that as well as what happens when you pressure cook greens (I’m looking at you Instant Pot). Stay tuned!

DESCRIPTION: Bacteria-eating viruses (bacteriophages) have been approved as meat additives to reduce the risk of Listeria and Campylobacter found in processed meat and poultry products, but there is a concern they could spread toxin genes between bacteria. For more about leading food poisoning causes of death #1 and #2 see Total Recall (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/total-recall/) and Brain Parasites in Meat (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/brain-parasites-in-meat/). In my book Bird Flu (http://birdflubook.com/g.php?id=5) I have a chapter about these creative meat industry "technofixes" (rectal poultry superglue anyone? (http://birdflubook.com/a.php?id=52)). For videos on other chicken feed additives of questionable safety, see Arsenic in Chicken (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/arsenic-in-chicken/) and Drug Residues in Meat (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/drug-residues-in-meat/), and for what Campylobacter can do, Poultry and Paralysis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/poultry-and-paralysis/). Please also feel free to check out any of the other 1,000+ thousand topics (http://nutritionfacts.org/topics/), and if you didn't like the thought of the meat industry spreading viruses on your food, tomorrow's video is entitled [Maggot Meat Spray].

I’m so glad I’m finally covering peripheral artery disease. If you remember my personal story, that’s one of the conditions my grandmother suffered from, one of the reasons she was confined in a wheelchair waiting to die, until…she was saved by evidence-based nutrition and inspired me to do for everyone’s family what Nathan Pritikin did for my family.
For more on central artery disease, see How Not to Die from Heart Disease (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-heart-disease) and the gazillions of videos I have on heart disease.

What’s this daily dozen thing I mentioned in the video? That’s from my book How Not to Die (see How Not to Die: An Animated Summary (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-an-animated-summary/)) encapsulated in these videos (in two different animation styles!): Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen Checklist (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/dr-gregers-daily-dozen-checklist/) or the more fanciful Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen Checklist (https://nutritionfacts.org/video/dr-gregers-daily-dozen-checklist-2/).
