Using Subaru Carbon Clean on my 2015 Forester XT
In this video I talk about and show how I used Subaru Carbon Clean on my 2015 Forester FXT. I'm going to use this as preventative maintenance going forward, adding it at each oil change to help prevent carbon buildup on my intake valves.

Subaru Part Numbers:

Carbon Clean: SOA868V9165
Top Engine Cleaning Tool: SOA868V9430
Top Engine Cleaner: SOA868V9160 (for reference. I have never used this product.)

Some additional notes I didn't talk about in the video: I left the application tool screwed into the empty bottle for a few hours and when I took it out, the liquid had corroded some of the chrome off the inlet tube! Don't let this stuff drip onto anything like the paint of your car.

Update: The day after doing this treatment, driving to work and idling (in gear) at traffic lights seems to have smoothed out. When I first got the car, idle was butter smooth but as time went by, it got slightly rough. (Really only a slight change.) I need more seat time to know for sure, but so far today, idle felt butter smooth again.

Also, someone claimed that the FA20DIT has a dual injection setup, where there are injectors on the intake manifold as well which cleans the valves. This is wrong. The non turbo variant of this engine like in the BRZ uses this dual setup but the turbo engine on this generation of vehicles only has the high pressure injectors. In this video I show you how to install a 5.25" floppy drive into a computer including some traps to watch out for. The phone goes through fits -- where pushing in the downward motion on the joystick doesn't register. You can hear the joystick physically clicking, but it often doesn't register they down in the phone's OS. If I push hard enough in the downward motion on the joystick, it usually works, but its very annoying when texting because on this phone you must push down to select the next word for T9. All other directions work perfectly on this joystick. Spraying compressed air into the joystick seems to help for, but only for a short time. If you google for K790 or K800 joystick problems you can find other people having this problem with this phone. People say the problem lies in the fact dust gets trapped inside the joystick, causing this problem. The strange thing is the problem is always with the "down" direction. I've already sent the phone in for repair once but they did nothing but upgrade the firmware, which changed nothing with regards to the joystick. I wish this had happened within the first 30 days of owning the phone so I could have just returned it, but the problem started happening around 45 days into owning the phone.
