With recent events of the last 5 years, the political and military institutions governed by oligarchic and lobbying industrialists, have positioned themselves to conduct psychological ops using the media as it's device to intentionally manipulate the viewing audience with unceasing audio and visual displays of divisive constructs such as the political atmosphere. In 2000, it came to light that soldiers from the 4th Psychological Operations Group had been interning at the American news networks Cable News Network (CNN) and National Public Radio (NPR) during the late 1990s. The program was an attempt to provide its PSYOP personnel with the expertise developed by the private sector under its "Training with Industry" program. The program caused concern about the influence these soldiers might have on American news and the programs were terminated. The 4th Psychological Operations Group is one of the United States Army's active military information support operations units along with the 8th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne), which was activated 26 August 2011 at Fort Bragg. The unit consists of a headquarters company and three regional PSYOP battalions (POB) and one dissemination battalion.
