#PakistanGDP #worldbank #fy23 #economicgrowth
The World Bank predicts that Pakistan's real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will grow at 2.0% in the fiscal year 2022-23 (FY23).
However, the report warns of a "sharp, long-lasting slowdown" with global growth expected to slow to 1.7%, which is roughly half of the pace predicted in June 2022.
The report cites high inflation and rising interest rates as reasons for the slowdown in growth. The situation in Pakistan is further exacerbated by low foreign exchange reserves, large fiscal and current account deficits, and the recent severe flooding.

Kissinger, former US secretary of state, played a pivotal role in historic events, notably the opening of relations with China. Despite controversies, he earned respect, even from rivals. Kissinger received the Nobel Peace Prize for Vietnam War negotiations. His influence extended to the Middle East through shuttle diplomacy. A master strategist, he faced criticism for supporting actions in Chile, East Timor, and Cyprus. On 9 March, India launched a BrahMos missile inside Pakistan that impacted near Mian Channu.
If the launch was misinterpreted by Pakistan, the reaction could have been catastrophic.
In response to Pakistan's protest to India, India adopted a rather simplistic stance and said that India would hold a court of inquiry of the accidental firing.
"Missile was fired accidentally during a routine maintenance operation because of a technical malfunction," said India.
Pakistani authorities do not believe the Indian version and have called upon international community to take serious notice of the incident.
Pakistan, therefore, rejected India's initial response and proposed a joint probe to New Delhi.
Pakistan's Foreign Office has asked the following 6 questions from India:
1. Clearly explain the type and specifications of the missile that fell in Pakistani territory?
2. Explain the flight path/trajectory of the 'accidentally launched' missile and how it ultimately turned and entered into Pakistan?
3. Was the missile equipped with self-destruct mechanism? Why did it fail to actualize?
4. Are Indian missiles kept primed for launch even under routine maintenance?
5. Why did India fail to immediately inform Pakistan about accidental launch of the missile and waited to acknowledge till after Pakistan announced the incident and sought clarification?
6. Given the profound level of incompetence, India needs to explain if the missile was indeed handled by its armed forces or some rogue elements?
