Saturday Night Baseball with L1011Widebody: Game 145
This one is a great game of baseball!
Hey, you guys like my Let's Plays, Longplays, Writing, and other random things I do, right? Maybe you'd consider sponsoring me on Patreon? All I ask is a $1 a month contribution. It doesn't sound like a lot, but if enough of you guys help out it will go a long way. Bonus points for guessing if the Soviet rockets explode. And, as always, the points mean nothing.
Taking on this challenging game, playing as both sides in this campaign to show off both the US and USSR's hardware and 'nauts.

"4 points of armor? That's ridiculous."
I have been longing to do this one for a long time, I know I already did a straight playthrough but this will be a lot of fun. This is literally the first PC game I ever played and the game that introduced me to the BattleTech world. We're going to go really deep in here and explore what makes MechWarrior 2 such a classic.

This is a call to trial!
As with the MechWarrior 2 vids, I will be splitting up the briefing/prep phase and the combat phase into separate videos.
Oh yes I have been looking at this one with fear and intimidation for a long time. The famous, or infamous, Ghost Bear's Legacy expansion pack/new campaign was released by Acti-Vision in 1995. It required a copy of the original MechWarrior 2 CD, however it introduced an entirely new campaign, all new mechs, and new weapons that went beyond what was seen in MechWarrior 2. Most importantly, Ghost Bear's Legacy adds an even greater depth and sense of immersion into what it would be like to actually be a Clan MechWarrior.
The story follows the (fictitious and non-canon, uh, extra fictitious I suppose?) journey of you as first a common MechWarrior, then being chosen in the batchall of your commander for the Trial to seek out and restore the stolen Clan Genetic Legacy of Jorgensson and Tseng. Along the way we will pitch head-long into so much Clan Lore and backstory, this is going to be so much fun.
As a game, however, Ghost Bear's Legacy was somewhat overlooked due to the sheer difficulty spike of some of its missions, a few which border on impossible. In the spirit of bringing the best possible experience I can, I will attempt to play through these missions 'as intended' at first. But I am not afraid to admit that I may have to use cheat codes or other dezgra tactics in order to advance the plot. GBL is not for sissy stravag freebirths.

The often-overlooked, sadly underrated Hardball 5 by Accolade has such an awesome soundtrack. Here is part of it.
This one plays when you're in the menu for batting practice or home run derbies or such. It sort of melds themes 1 and 2. Unlike the other menu musics, this one seems intended to loop.

"That's misogynist! You shouldn't shoot a woman in the face, even if she is piloting a 75-ton war machine!"
With Operation Bulldog a success and the Clan Smoke Jaguar Occupation Zone liberated, you and your Davion Guards comrades are expecting a hero's welcome back home. Unfortunately, this is not to be. Yankee and Zulu Companies have been called back into the fray once again, to eliminate the 'renegade' Smoke Jaguar Star Colonel Marcus Kotare on the barren periphery world of Cermak. Although once a Star League outpost, hundreds of years of warfare and neglect have left Cermak nothing more than a desolate wasteland of decrepit abandoned bases, wind-stripped trees, and cracked landscape. But is Kotare planning to make this his last stand, or does he have something more sinister up his sleeve?
Desperate Measures was released in August 1999 by Microrprose and published by Microsoft, and together with the Mechwarrior 3 expansion pack 'Pirate's Moon' constitute the end of the all-too-short 'Microrprose Era' of Battletech video games. Thouogh technically the expansion campaign is named Desperate Measures, for simplicity's sake it's become synonymous with MechCommander Gold, as it was never released separately. Along with the Desperate Measures expansion campaign, MechCommander Gold also added new features like improved waypoints, energy-weapon-only firing orders, difficulty settings, and a mission editor.
MechCommander Gold (as well as MechCommander 2) is freely available online, as the game was released as freeware several years ago. As the websites change often, just google 'Mechcommander download' and you should find it. As usual, I am playing with my original game disc.

So a lot of people were asking me, L-Ten, how does your mod affect the single player campaign? And so I did it.

No, I think this is the MIDI one that was in the Mechwarrior Windows installer. Has a bit harsher, foreboding tone to it.

Oh god now the platform bots have missiles...
I'm going to be playing a mod I made of Descent 1 that converts it into Descent 2. I added the guidebot to the levels, and the Descent 2 accessories and weapons. On the other hand, the AI is smarter in Descent 2, so it balances out. It'll be fun. Descent is a classic first person shooter/sim game from Interplay and Parallax Software from 1995. Six degrees of freedom for playing around in the mines.
Played on DXX-Rebirth source port.

Playing the campaign mode of this classic real time strategy game from Westwood and Electronic Arts, the 2000 sequel to the run-away hit Red Alert. This game takes place some years after the plot of Red Alert, this time featuring a new Soviet sneak attack on the United States instead of Europe.
