In many ways, the planet Earth resembles an orange. They have a similar shape. The planet also, like this fruit, has its own skin - the earth's crust. There are holes in the earth's crust - volcanoes. When they erupt, stone, ash, and hot lava fly out. Thanks to volcanoes, new islands sometimes arise at the planet. Two thirds of the land are covered by water. Basically it is the salty water of the oceans and seas that cannot be drunk. But there are also rivers with fresh water, thanks to which trees grow and animals survive. Rivers usually start in the mountains. They gather from snow or rain and begin to flow below. Rivers form waterfalls. The largest and most beautiful of them are favorite places of tourists even today. Fresh water is very important for life on the planet.

The story takes place in Meadows – the city in the north of Edinburgh. Two respectable men were sitting on the bench and talking to each other. They didn't suspect that somebody could hear them. There was only a napping homeless not far from the bench. However, the men underestimated the beggar. His name was Frank and he was a famous English artist and a brother of an English poetess. Frank often came to Edinburgh in summer to be a tramp. The local people considered him a mad dreamer. Somebody liked, others hated. Everybody knew that Frank was a great chatterbox. When Frank heard the conversation of those men, he went to the local inspector Rebus. Those suspected discussed a terrorist attack. Frank told the inspector the information about a possible threat. Rebus only laughed at him and gave some coins.

They win the match in the final seconds. It was May of 1999.

But it is different with the oceans. Like space, they still remain a mystery to many scientists. The thing is that there are very low temperatures and enormous pressure at a great depth. Bathyscaphes dive for several kilometres without problems, but they don't get deeper. It is impossible. Scientists assume that there is life at such depths too: microorganisms and other living beings. They are probably blind or have their own methods to illuminate the path. It the creature lives in such conditions, then the temperature and pressure on the surface will kill it immediately.

The Irish philosopher, esthete, writer and poet Oscar Wild wrote this masterpiece in 1887. Wilde's name is connected with the rebellion against Victorian morality with its substitution of bad for good and vice versa. His prose intended to offend the socially accepted tastes and conventions. In this story, the author expressed a kind of a protest against the dominance of practicality and the absolute common sense.

This is a collection of stories by famous Canadian writer Margaret Atwood. She is well known as a children's writer, a science fiction writer and a graphic novel author. The book first saw the world at the end of two thousand and six. Each story is related to the next, so the book tells one long and confusing story. The book consists of eleven chapters. The heroes are completely different: a middle-aged couple, a young mother and her daughter, a high school student, a young man who loves travelling. Sometimes the story is told in the first person, sometimes in the third one. Gradually, the heroes of the stories meet each other, moving from chapter to chapter. These events are mixed and lead to unexpected results. The plot of the book is exciting and you want to read it in one evening.
