In the world of prime 135mm lenses of the manual focus era, the Nikkor AI and AIS series are the top-of-the-heap premium products. Is there any reason to prefer the f/2.8 version over the f/3.5? Perhaps, but not by much.

The nature reserve adjacent to Kibbutz Be'eri has long been known for the beautiful red wildflowers which bloom in February. Now it is also known as one of the most heavily burned nature reserves in Israel, thanks to the Gazans' airborne Molotov cocktails.

Today we mix one liter of stock solution of Ilford Microphen, though the process is identical for ID-11 and Perceptol. When you see dilutions given in developing instructions as "Microphen 1+3" it simply means one part stock solution, as we are mixing today, plus three parts water. In other words "Developer 1+3" would be 25% stock solution and 75% water. Similarly, "Developer 1+1" would be fifty percent stock solution and fifty percent water. It is not necessary to use distilled water for this part of the process. Ordinary tap water is fine.
