I've owned a Land Rover Defender TD5 for a while now and I find access to the engine bay difficult because its so high. I need something to stand on to be able to get to reach in. I've used pallets in the past but I have now created something that will do the job safely and it was all made out of scrap I had around the workshop. It did turn out a tad heavier than I would have liked but it saved over £50 on a commercially available one. So a result there!

I've owned a Bosch PHO 100 plane (planer?) for 3 decades and have only replaced a drive belt and recently a set of blade that I shattered on first usage! So rather than spend out on another set of blade for a 30 year old tool I decided to upgrade.
I went for Bosch again, the GHD 26 82D, due to the reliability of the old one. I hope I was right in that choice. Time will tell.
It feels very well made and not too heavy in use. The duel port for dust extraction is great for a left hander too. There is a nice length of cable so I found it easy to move around the door in the video with ease. A rebating jig is inclued as is a dust collection bas and a nice storage case in blown plastic. Not a bag like some manufactures give you!
Overall, so far I'd give it 10 out of 10. I'll report back if I have any issues.

I've owned a Land Rover Defender TD5 for a few years and it very basic! I've added a few refinement but during the hot summer months it gets very warm in the Defender when driving. I do have the 2 air vents at the front which I open and of course the windows. The air vents are very good but the air flow is not direct-able.
A few years ago I used 2 blank credit cards and 30seconds of time and came up with what you see in the video, and it works very well.

In a bid to tidy the front garden a tad the Wife decided I was going to build 2 oak sleeper tubs out of railway sleepers so we could plant a few bits and pieces! The video describes what I did and shows the finished results. All in all I’m very pleased with how it went.

If you have watched my earlier videos you may have seen a very long standing, on-going project, namely my Ford Anglia 100e! Today we take a look at the work I have done from underneath.
I have lots of ideas I want to put to practice, just not too much time to do them. Hopefully things will change and I can get the old girl back on the road.

You may have seen a video where I repaired this Evolution R210 Rage 3S saw. Well its failed again, this time its terminal, the spindle on the armature has sheared off rendering the saw unusable. In the video I show what's happened and what I'm going to do about it.

Well OK!!. The steps are finished bar a little tidying and all seems well. This video shows you around the finished build and how the control gear and T-Max compressor are packed in under the passenger seat. It was a bit of a squeeze! Hi-res photos are available in my Google drive, the link for this is below. Please leave any constructive comments as I know if I did it again I would have done things differently.
In the coming months I'll do a short video on how its going and what's fell off!!
Thanks for watching ??

I've owned a Warco 300/2 lathe for over 20 years but recently my time using it has increased. So my mind has turned to doing a few upgrades on it to make it a little more usable. This series of videos shows how I fitted both scales/read heads to the lathe and the mounting of the display unit.
I only went for the 5 micron scales as I think in my case that would be fine for the work I do on the lathe, that and the fact the 1 micron scales are harder to get in the UK without being shipped from abroad and are twice the price.
The DRO display unit cost me £87 and the scales were around £50 each.
Keep a look out for the other parts of this series and for the video where I shortened the scales length on the X axis.

I've been looking at this system for a while now but the price tag of £160 has always put me off. Now Amazon have a Black Friday deal most years so I thought it wouldn't hurt to take a look. Whats the worst that could happen?
Well, they had 2 deals in the "Warehouse deals" as they call it. Both customer returns or damaged box items. The first was for £111. Great I thought, I'll make a brew and get it. Too late!! Tea in hand I found that deal had already been snapped up so I moved onto the next one deal for £117 inc the box. I got this one before it sold and this is what the video is about.
On opening the box I received from Amazon a few days later the system looked brand new apart from the box had been opened and the fluffy sound mice for internal mic were missing. No a big issue.
You'll see in the video the unboxing and testing, just be aware that if you are using an iPhone you will need (In my case I have a 7 and 10) an adaptor cable for the Rode, an SC7, and a barrel jack with a lightening plug. The latter came with my original iPhones).

The aim was to buy just about the cheapest all singing, all dancing component tester I could. To this aim I ended up with a Geekcreit® LCR-T4 Mega328 tester from Banggood. The one I choose was a tad over a tenner and free shipping to the UK with a case. The alternative for exactly the same item without a case was about £6.50 PLUS about £2 shipping. The former seemed the better deal. This video is a quick insight to the device and the reason I bought it in the first place.
