June was up way too late last night assembling her Prusal XL. Thankfully they shipped REALLY LARGE Gummi bears to keep her going!

This video is both a short intro to the channel, the aim of the videos, and gets into the basics of the hardware that makes up the Commodore 128D. I cover the basic 8502 architecture, and a light touch on the Commodore machine language monitor.
Apologies for not going into more detail with the 8502 instructions -- I hope to do another video with more detail on how it works. In the meantime, I highly recommend http://www.6502.org and also skilldrick's Easy6502 tutorial at https://skilldrick.github.io/easy6502/

Let's talk about the 8502's branching instructions! Quick overview of the local branching behaviors and how relative addressing works.

Let's give this newfangled livestream thing a try! We're going to do some C coding on VICE for the v128, some Q&A, and basically do a shakedown of this whole thing. Might become a common thing, we'll see. :D

Errata: the filter can be toggled on/off per channel, not globally across all three at once. See also the datasheet here: https://www.waitingforfriday.com/?p=661#Filter

Didn't see any NTSC versions of this game uploaded, so here's my crack at it. This is a recording of VICE's x64sc emulator running off of a G64 of my original game disk.
This was an amazing game for the time, capable of rendering a faux 3D playfield grid, and "composing" it's own randomly-generated jazz-styled music. Gameplay is much the same as the PAL version, but the music is slower, and I'm pretty sure the NTSC version is a bit more frantic, but I might be biased because of the faster music. :D
