This was sent in by another viewer who was having a situation where the projector would run for a bit. Then it would freeze and shut down. Their initial diagnosis showed the lamp fan no longer spinning. This is not uncommon in Sim2's of that age. The power supply was repaired at one point in the past but they used the wrong value capacitor. This was causing a slight delay in startup but did not cause any real problems. I opted to replace it with a correct capacitor anyway and replaced another that was suspect in my opinion.
Originally I had thought about replacing all the fans. Instead we opted to change the one fan on the lamp even though I got it working. With some repairs you need to take the age of a device into account. The other 2 fans are not showing any signs of trouble. Rather than waste the owners money on things that aren't broken, we are only replacing the one fan. If they start to act up at a later date they can be addresses then. Until then this will save the owner some money. I suspect he will replace this Sim2 before the fans ever fail.
The fan sizes are 80x80x15mm and 60x60x15mm. The lamp is a 120W P22 reflector (UHP in this case but PVIP will also work).

There seems to be a run of Sim2's lately. They are a lot of fun to work on.

This Sanyo PLC-XM100L took some damage at some point that left the mainboard misaligned, bent, and generally unhappy. It also seems to cause the main exhaust fan to break. Initially I thought the ballast was the issue but then I found that fan.
After a harvested fan was installed and the mainboard was put back in properly, the projector was back up and running.

Ballast replacement in an Optoma HD70 that had no lamp light. Not a common failure in what I have seen. I suspected bad caps in the power supply as that is common. I had to trouble shoot more.

Another HT1075, another shut down via fan error. The owner had replaced the blower fan but kept having Fan 3 failures. Fan 3 is the turbine/lamp blower fan. After speaking to him, we agreed that the errors just didn't make sense so he sent it to me to check.
I found what I thought was a lot of dust build up but apparently 2 big dogs in the house create a lot of dust. I should have known better, with a house full of cats, the hair deposits on vacuum day look like they have been there a year when it's only been a week. There were some mixed up screws too. I don't blame anyone for doing that. If its the first time you open something it can happen. I suggest making a little "map" or drawing and then putting the screws on that paper or cardboard. I'll show that in another video someday. The fact that they tried is awesome in my opinion. Everyone should try if they want to.
I decided to do a full tear down and evaluate everything after finding some broken screw towers. It led me to find that the mainboard had some screws mixed up with chassis screws which likely led to the mainboard becoming detached from the DMD riser after enough vibration.
After cleaning everything and replacing the base of the projector with a scrap base, I found that the unit works great with all of the screws in the right spot and a good cleaning.
As of this video, I am still running one of these myself as my own projector and I love it.
If you have a lot of dust in your area(desert, farm, animals etc.) some open cell foam may help as an external filter. I'm referring to the stuff used in window air con units. As an example, https://www.mcmaster.com/air-filters/filter-style~roll/mildew-resistant-reusable-air-filter-rolls/
Put a piece of that on the Intake side(opposite the fan) and it will help.

Finished the Sonos Amp. I did end up checking the sound with the client since it is connected to their account. If I get another to work on, I may get my own account. I ended up replacing the 2 Mosfets and 2 Diodes in the power supply. Nothing else was damaged. Thanks for watchin
FYI, Unfortunately I am unable to take in Sonos amps for repair. The lack of parts availability and service info is crippling. Only power issues seem to be cost effective to repair. Low volume, no sound, are beyond the ability to repair with the info that is available. I wish I had the time/ability work on these for you. I'm happy to answer questions though.

A little different than the usual. This is a light source used for UV curing adhesives. The display would only light sometimes due to the AC-DC 5v converter going bad. I had to drill new mounting holes but the new power supply took care of it.

This Eiki EK-612X was sent in after a lamp connector melted due to the lamp not being seated fully. I suspect it wasn't seated because there was an old mounting screw broken off in one of the screw holes.
A lamp had exploded at some point. The color wheel would not spin up due to a quartz shard. I was told another shop had looked at it but I Am not positive. Someone was inside and almost made a mess.

The venerable BenQ W1070 was sent in after a new lamp did not fix the problem. The owner was having the image freeze and shut down after a few minutes.
The service menu confirms the problem is color wheel related. I had quoted it for a new wheel before it was sent in but after evaluating it in person, the wheel was fine enough for this unit. The actual failure was crud build up on the color wheel sensor. The owner is a smoker and the nicotine has clogged up optical bit that watches the color wheel.
After a good cleaning, it was running fine. Sent back a few weeks ago and has been running since.
Service menu steps: Press Menu, then press Source and Enter at the same time. Boxes will appear to see the settings and info.
