This bus (with many others not filmed this day) uses the opposite lane to avoid a complete traffic jam near Patokbeusi, Subang district in West Java. This outrageous behaviour is common in Indonesia, where police is paid off to look the other way. I stopped the bus and just waited. Behind me traffic was dense already, so it was safe enough for me to do so. I started recording after about 2 minutes, when the driver decided to back up and get back to it's lane.

We all know that feeling when you’re doing just below maximum speed and the fast lane – the right-most lane in Indonesia – is taken up by a vehicle that’s going slightly slower and you can clearly see an empty stretch of road in front.
Some Indonesians think lane hogging is a sport that will win them a gold medal I suppose, because it happens so frequently that I seriously would like to see a medal table for this based on license plate and video evidence.

In coming years, 100 busway corridor bus stops in Jakarta will be overhauled or rebuild entirely to serve as a better shelter for the hundreds of thousands of travelers on Jakarta's busway system every day. Work on some of the stops has started months ago, a link to that video is below here, and a few stops have been completed already. Today we are checking out two of them; the new shelter alongside Jakarta Kota train station - within the huge pedestrianized area - and Gelora Bung Karno bus stop towards the south.
