Recently, a friend of mine thought that it would be an interesting idea to see if she could book Owen Jones for an event in Cardiff. The event (not a real one by the way) was marketed as a meeting against Racism and the Anti Woke Brigade, and Owen's agent was asked if Owen would like to be the 'top of the bill' speaker. You would have thought that the kind and gracious, loving and charitable and oh so virtuous Owen of the Soyland and his agent would have said 'my lady, anything for you and I am at your disposables' or something like that. Alas, no. His agent quoted a FIVE FIGURE sum (£10k to £15k) in order to hire somebody who wishes to ban people from inheriting money and who calls out capitalism as wrong! If that were not bad enough, she would also have to pay for four of five star accommodation for him and possibly his friends or anybody who he wished to invite, plus give them a free bar, free buffet and VIP access to the event. If she agreed to give access to this event to The Guardian and/or The Observer (same paper I know!) then she may have gotten a £2k discount on the final bill which would have also included a mileage charge.
