Chasing Squirrels near the White House on kind of a random day.
It's cold and not much going on, so I chased a few squirrels.

The Army Corps of Engineers announced the Francis Scott Key bridge debris was all removed this weekend, so all that was left was for the politicians to declare the Port reopened, which they did today.

It's another request video and several of you have been asking me about "flooding" in Washington D.C. so I decided I'd go down to the Potomac River and show you what I see. I also took a trip up to Capitol Hill the other night where you told me there were also some scenes of water flowing in the streets (but I couldn't find any). This morning is a bit groggy because my phone starting pinging at 4:30am for 'shots fired' in the neighborhood, just up from the Vice President's house. While gunshots in DC are not exactly rare, gunshots in the part of town near the VP's house are a bit out of the norm. After the headlines screamed on local media about a "Shooting near the Naval Observatory" the details started to trickle out of a road rage incident that turned into gun play. Police are still looking for the suspect. We went by the scene and then the Vice President's house where we saw some protestors.
So then we decided to just relax and head down the Lincoln Memorial where we caught a movie crew making a film, the Vietnam Wall where we were all alone, and the Einstein statue that most people don't even notice. I then head over to the White House where I fear the National Christmas tree is on it's last legs, and finished up with a glance at Lafayette Park, the World War I Memorial and then the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple just up the street, again because some of you asked for it.

A relatively quiet day in Washington, until I was reminded that the FBI Whistleblower case was up on Capitol Hill. I made it up there, a bit late, so we didn't get to see much. Still, come around Washington with me on a nice Spring day as we check out the sights and try not to get hit by cars.

If you haven't watched my live stream from last night, be sure to check it out in my library. We saw dozens of workers, with big trucks and forklifts descend on Lafayette Park dropping off NEW FENCE when all along we thought the fences were coming down. A worker even told us "we're just replacing the old fence" which was definitely quite a let down.
But now is the morning after all this construction and deconstruction near the White House. What does it look like? The fences are down around the executive office buildings and the Treasury, but the Lafayette Park fence is still there, and access to Pennsylvania Avenue, the tourist mecca of the White House, is still restricted and closed. The pictures from the front of the White House that usually fill Facebook and Instagrams of school field trips from around the country are still going to have a big fence in them for some time to come.

I made a video earlier today about the explosions at the FBI so I decided the rest of the day would be a bit calmer. The World Bank Annual Meetings are underway and a variety of protestors have arrived outside to show their displeasure, but it all got a bit loud so I decided to escape to Georgetown for a quick drink of hot chocolate, with a side order of over two dozen cats. Come with me to the Washington, D.C. cat cafe Crumbs and Whiskers as we grab a drink and play with some rescue cats.

I barely did anything today except sit at home in front of the computer working and eating junk food. But later in the evening Air Force One caught a tailwind and managed to get back to the USA from Japan about an hour ahead of schedule, which meant I could get out and see Marine One landing before the sunset. Here's what I saw.

Easter Monday in Washington means the White House Easter Egg Roll takes place on the South Lawn in an organized mass of chaos overseen by the First Lady’s office. The President, Vice President, Cabinet Secretaries and the Easter Bunny all make an appearance, this year slightly hampered by cold wind and rain, deterring a few families from attending. I did managed to catch Biden walking into the White House, a video many people have been asking for over the last few months. Not deterred by the weather though were the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington. I went out to Arlington Cemetery today to show you that they are on guard, on duty and paying their respects to their fallen unknown comrade no matter what the conditions are outside.
