Whole numbers that are multiplied to find a product are called factors of that product. A number is divisible by its factors. We can find all the factors of a number by thinking of all the number pairs that can be multiplied to get that number. When we list the factors of a number, we always begin with 1 and end with the number itself. For any number, 1 and that number will be factors. We can use a diagram to show factor pairs of a number. We list each factor one time. We solve a word problem and make a table of values to show possible lengths and widths as factors.

We've learned that two equal ratios make a proportion. We need to multiply or divide the numerator and denominator by the same number to make an equivalent ratio. We solve a multi-step word problem in which we need to find an area given in feet and convert it to an area in meters. Then we need to find a cost per square meter. We also convert meters to yards, to the nearest tenth.

An explanation of when we can use the Law of Cosines to solve a triangle (when we have SAS or SSS). Using the Law of Cosines and an inverse cosine function to find a missing side length, or find a missing angle measure, and another formula we can use to find the measure of an angle if we know three side lengths.

Before we discuss the properties of inequality, we review the Properties of Equality, rational numbers, and integers. The Addition Property of Inequality states that we can add the same number to both sides of an inequality and the inequality will remain true. The Subtraction Property of Inequality states that we can subtract the same number from both sides of an inequality and the inequality will remain true. We show how to graph an inequality on a number line with an open circle if the number is NOT included in the solution. We also show how we graph an inequality on a number line with a closed circle if the inequality symbol is "greater than or equal to", or "less than or equal to", because the number IS included in the solution. We show a cool inequality graphing trick to know which way to draw and shade our arrow to graph the inequality.

We use equivalent ratios and rates from a table to make ordered pairs. We graph the ordered pairs and connect the points with a line. A coordinate plane is made from two number lines that cross each other at (0,0) the origin, as the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate. Each column of our table is a ratio. In an ordered pair, the x is the first number and y is the second number in alphabetical order. But as a ratio, y is the first number. We show how to plot points that are not shown on the scale. We estimate the location of these points by finding the two scale numbers they fall between. We take a quick look ahead to modules 10 and 12 where we learn that any point on our line is a correct ratio or ordered pair, and we see the equation of our line.

To write an equation from data shown in a graph, it may be easier to first make a table of values from the ordered pairs of the points in the graph. Then we can look for a pattern in the table by comparing the independent and dependent values to each other. We see three examples of writing an equation from data of a given graph.

We can use the strategy "draw a diagram" to solve multi-step multiplication problems. We can draw a bar model that fits the operation we need to use to compare two numbers to each other. We can then use the bar model to write an equation to find how many more one amount is than the other. We review the steps to solving word problems. We show and solve 5 word problems involving multiplication with multiplying twice, multiplying with subtraction, or multiplication with addition. We discuss the clue words that we saw in our word problems that would help us choose which operation to use.

We describe squares as shapes with 4 straight sides of equal length and 4 square vertices. We see the difference between straight lines and lines that are not straight because they have a curve. We see how we can take 4 straight lines of equal length and make a square. We review vertex and vertices. We see how a square has 4 square vertices by fitting small squares into each corner. We draw a square on dot paper, with 4 sides of equal length and 4 square vertices, by drawing lines that have the same number of spaces between the dots.

We can model decimal multiplication by using two colors that represent each of the factors. The area of the model that is colored twice is the product. To multiply decimals, we use the standard algorithm (regular way) to multiply as we would with whole numbers. Then we place the decimal point in the product by matching the number of decimal places (jumps) in the equation to the number of decimal places (jumps) in the product. We complete all multiplication and addition for the final product, then we count the decimal jumps and insert the decimal point in the product. Money amounts are written using two place values to the right of the decimal point. If our product contains more than two place values, we round to the nearest hundredth. We solve a word problem involving involving area.
